Just wanted to post that I finally graduated with my BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Central Florida. It's a big accomplishment for somebody who couldn't do math to save his life in middle school and high school, but always wanted to be an engineer.

I have to say I really enjoyed school, but I'm glad it's over. While in school my wife almost divorced me, then we had a baby and now he's 2. It was a bit of a wild ride, but we made it and I even got a job right out of school, which is a big deal during these times.

I'm thinking about going back to do a Master's one class at a time and maybe try to get my PE license, but the wife says let's talk about that later.

I want to thank GRM and all the folks who post here. After many hours of studying, reading this board and issues of GRM was one of the few recreational things I had time for that kept me sane.

I work here, http://www.benet.wva.army.mil/ 90+ % of the Engineers I work with are RPI grads. If you agree to stay for five years they pick up your school loans.

Lets see, RPI tuition alone is $40,000 per year; that was easy wasn't it?

Congrats on making it through, now get to work.

I was pretty happy when I was done with my BSME too. I was even happier when I finally got my diploma in the mail, since I never talked to a person about my standing in the college of engineering or went to graduation. I guess that's what happens when you go to a school with 42k students.

Yep. And it's even only 15 min from my house, so I have no rush hour hell on the 408 or I-4. They are even paying me pretty darn well. I feel like I hit the lottery or something.

You did, except you earned it. Luck is what happens when preparation meets oppurtunity. You are right to be proud, and an even better man for making it work with your family. Take that great gal of your out to dinner and tell her how much she meant to this.

That is awesome! And congrats too on the wife and family. I know how rough that can be and it sounds like the 3 of you are doing well.

There is iron in Mental's words, about luck and about giving credit to your wife. You should both be proud of this accomplishment. Congratulations!

Its got to be tough trying to finish a BS with a wife and a youngun. I salute you!

Not sure what an MS will do for you in ME, because I know nothing about ME. I do work with a bunch of Civil engineers at an environmental consulting firm. If you are worth a darn at your job, it seems you get bumped up into management. You may want to consider a masters in business.

Smagradulations! I tried for an ME degree, but I was better with computers than math. Calc and physics kicked my ass.
