It must of just gotten way worse. The news has started to say "more coverage of Fay as it's bearing down on central Florida" They like to say that when we feel like everything will be okay. Then they stick some obviously miserable guy wearing a yellow raincoat in the middle of the storm to point at the wiggling stop signs.

Very little in Gainesville so far. Only a trace of rain and an occasional gust.

From the latest forecast, it looks like the rest of the week will be a washout though. Challenge wrenching will be dicey!

Remember Ophelia a few years ago? That one was screwy too, it just sat in the Atlantic off of the NC/SC coast for a few days. Every morning when I'd leave for work I could see the tops of the clouds. If I stood and watched long enough, it was possible to see the cloudbank's rotation.

I dislike one of our local CFNews 13 guys, Ben Baird, much the way Margie hates Bob Costas. A couple of days ago, he picked up a branch and essentially said, "This branch could kill you...so be prepared."

Now I have a mental image of Per beating the guy senseless with his branch.

I live in in Naples Park. Spent the night at the girlfriend's place near the corner of Radio and Livingston. Really, just a little wind between 3-6am. honestly, very little flooding in most of Collier and we needed the rain as much as everyone else in the southeast.

I also work for a marine and environmental consulting firm. When I came back to work this morning that same occurance was brought up and they said that because there is so much warm water in the everglades that Fay was able to suck up all that energy. It was also noted that Fay may be the only TS/Hurricane to hit FL three times, Keys-Naples/Marco-up near you guys.

We closed the office yesterday to be safe which gave me a whole day indoors to work on the challengers motor.

As of about right now, GRM World HQ is closed for the storm. We'll be closed tomorrow, but hopefully back Friday. In the meantime, if you need to reach someone email or the contact form is best.

Better wear flippers. Two FEET of rain in Brevard county, which was on the immediate south side of the storm before it moved off the coast. Right where we're supposed to be when it moves back ON the coast early tomorrow morning.

Now I'm glad I got Greg and Scott to sandbag the back doors at the new World HQ.

And on a related note, BMX at the Olympics is rained out, too. I can't get away from the stuff.

So far, so good, but the real storm comes today for us... and we're not going to be there. It's buttoned up pretty well.

The NOAA advisory for 2PM 8/21 says the storm has begun to move west-northwest at 2MPH and is expected to continue that movement for the next couple of days, the center will near the Gulf coast of the Panhandle sometime late Friday or early Saturday. Man, it's gonna get wet down there.

The local weatherman said it's best to plot the storm's movement using the metric system--it sounds faster that way.

Cuz I'm praying for rain...And I'm praying for tidal waves...

Not really, but that's what sprung to mind when I read you last sentence.

Well, I hope my truck and the storage unit with all my worldly possessions in it aren't underwater. Good thing I left my truck 100yds from the river in Cape Canaveral and got a storage unit in Indian Harbor Beach. sigh

Personally, I would like to see Tallahassee blown off the map. Or at least six feet of water. No, I don't much care for our state politicians.
