Holy crap, this thing looks brutal.

This thing is going to be a dingleberry that the coast won't be able to shake for a few days. I've never seen a storm stop and drive up the coast like that. Hoping you guys aren't in that 35+" of rain category.
Looks like the storme surge is already coming in. High tide at Corpus Christi this morning was 1.5' higher than normal.
Live thread with updates:
Thanks for the live thead. It's raining now and it's supposed to rain for the next six days. I wonder if they make 36 inch rain gauges?

Duel purpose rain gauge!
Holy crap, 36"+ of rain! I can't imagine the much water, anyone have an arc? Good luck to all those in it's path.
I get eight inches (of rain ) in the side yard when a simple mid july squall line pushes thru....can't wait, still have pics from IKE on da phone gotta figure out how to post.....
Up here in Austin, I'm concerned about flooding a bit, but only because my driveway slopes towards the house. Looks like I'll be headed to a home store tonight to buy some sand or dirt or mulch (whatever I can find) and trash bags.
A co-worker's mom and dad live in Victoria and have decided to stay. She's doing her best to stay busy and not worry about them.
Thoughts are with ya'll to the south. The wind will be bad, but it's the sheer volume of rain expected if it stalls that'll be the worst. I've heard predictions of five FEET of rain over the next 5 days in some areas.....

I've heard there is some sort of big high pressure system to the north that will hold the storm in place. Different than when the jet stream dips south and sucks everything northeast.
Stay safe guys.
Jim Cantore sure is sounding excited.
The sheer amount of water that is fixing to fall is unimaginable.
Stay dry if you can.
Cat 4 now, with the amount of rain that is scheduled to fall it's time for folks in it's path to get the Berkeley out of town.
I've been sitting on my hands all day waiting for it to even start raining. Then again, I'm up closer to College Station.
Even this far in we're anticipating up to 2' of rain by Wednesday.
As of this moment, I'll likely be available to help if anyone ends up needing emergency assistance.
With that much rain I hope there's no wind at all, the trees won't have any stable soil to hold onto. Stay safe guys.

took the Spark out to the bayou this evening to see what the bayou was looking like after the little rain we had today (not much). main purpose was to get some baseline footage and scout flying spots post-Harvey. just thrown together with the dji go4 app.
I'm on the north side of Houston, so hopefully we won't see much rain for a bit yet. This is looking to be a long drawn out event.
Rain rain rain....The storm path is really weird as it's just stalling out there and then back tracking. Tornadoes are starting to kick up on the edges. I'm more worried about that here. There was high school in rockport that the roof collapsed.
In the real texas disaster, The smoke pits at franklins bbq were destroyed in a fire last night.
All's well in Kingwood (NE Houston). Some wind and rain but that's it. If anyone needs anything - chainsaw, muscle, high ground to park on - let me know.

got six inches in the side yard ...lull right now....path forecast is whack...watching radar on the puter looks like it's headed to the northwest side of h'town not this double back twostep along the coast the area networks are spouting even thou Chita Craft is easy on the eyes
Now that everything is sufficiently soaked is when the pucker factor takes effect...I have at least 60 large (tall) hardwoods on the property....when the winds finally show up....chainsaw show time and possibly no more from me for awhile...hopefully I can dodge that bullet
