Hurricane Harvey

Heading down on Friday to help my brother get stuff out of his apartment. Ended up with about 4 inches of water in his place. Couch is ruined as are a few other things. But all in all he said it was mostly ok. He's hoping to get a vacant unit on the 2nd floor that we can move his stuff to while they do the repairs on his place. Both cars also ended up being total losses, but are covered by GAP insurance so he should be good there. Side note, he has a large beer collection (130-ish bottles), anyone know where I can get boxes that have dividers in them for free or really cheap. I was going to try Costco, since our's has a liquor store attached to it.

If there's a total wine in the area, they always have scads of boxes perfect for it.

Houston, specifically the Katy area, was a bit of a warzone when I went down last Friday. My brothers place got about 4 inches of water in it, almost all of his furniture is unusable. He estimates it will cost around $3k to replace all of his furniture. Both cars are total losses as well. Hope everyone else is doing well.

Have been puling sheetrock ,belongings, kitchen islands ,etc. to the curb. Please keep all these folks and those in Florida in your prayers. Their loss and emotional sucker punch is something that you will not want to experience in anyone's lifetime.

I hope things get better for you. I was just a teenager when Hugo hit Charleston but I didn't realize the mental part until I couldn't recall the three days after the storm. Everyone likes to feel in control of their little world but a storm can destroy that illusion. 

Back into the fray tomorrow .....more demo and e36m3 is starting to stink way bad . Last word was two to three weeks before removal of debris could take place. oh and the clean up vultures are everywhere......dehumidifiers/fans $600 per day minimum 3days take it or leave it....berked up!! 

Also for those the least bit curious about the extent of the flooding here in Houston......Google maps has been kind enough to bless us with a satellite update of the area. Go to downtown Houston  and just pan to the left slowly........

On a related topic .....flooded vehicles... A friends 2017 BMW X1 Msport with less than 1700miles took on enough water to fill the cup holders . If one had the time and patience, could this be resurrected or let the insurance scratch you a check?

Is the ECM under the passenger seat or behind the glove box?
