A couple of years ago, we had a tornado touch down about 600 feet from our house at about 4:45 pm. At 7, we were out grilling on the patio. It was a beautiful evening, but we couldn't leave the neighborhood for days.

We had a house in St. Pete that we sold in 2019 (just before the market spiked
), but I don't miss this E36 M3 at all. I don't know what was worse; being there and having to prep for it, or being a thousand miles away (hoping for wind damage and not water damage) and trying to find out if all of your stuff survived intact.
Finally got released from work. The house seems to have taken no damage. I don't think the storm surge crossed US-19. We are on the east side of US-19 in New Port Richey. Even the rotten fence is still standing. I think we dodged a major bullet this time.
I can say without a doubt that this will be the last hurricane season both me and my GF will ever see in FL. She works for the county govt and I work for a contracted company supporting a military MAJCOM. The sheer incompetence at both of our workplaces was absolutely staggering. To put it simply, I cannot get out fast enough.
Very windy here in Norfolk today, not much rain but I guess there was a smallish surge. Monday there was much more rain, enough to fill the streets here.

Hilarious.
I lived in S. Cali for quite a while and laughed about them freaking out about their hurricane. Granted mudslides are a thing out there but c'mon.
I live in New England. Ever hear of a Nor'Easter? I was working outside 16 hours in one that had 85mph winds, negative temp wind chill, and shat out 3+ feet of snow that would drift up to 20'. We didn't have a party, we didn't cry, we sucked it the berkeley up and did our jobs. There was another one a week later.
I also lived in the Caribbean where we got bulls eyed by a cat4 and the place I worked at had to hire a crane to get a drowned Brahma bull out of the pool.
Hurricanes are no joke, for sure, but suck it up buttercup.

Hurricanes ain't E36 M3 til Disney and the waffle House are worried. I don't start looking for flashlights til swmbo gets put on recovery watch and I can't get my triple covered chunked capped and country.
