While i recognize that the Infinity References are quality units, there's no way i would put them in my car. The tweeter feels like ice picks digging through my eardrum.
That's not the first time I've read that, but I think the only other time was from you too.
I'm kind of sensitive to harsh tweeters, and I don't hear that at all.
IR's should sound good, and really smooth on a stock head unit. They do in my truck, and did in my Z
I readily admit that i've got somewhat weird ears, so i'm not surprised. My only point was that listening first is always a good idea if at all possible.
I wouldn't expect anyone to buy anything i recommend without checking it out first, they aren't me.
I also can not stand very high highs. I've always liked the sound of the Polks so I'll probably go with those. Thanks everybody!
BTW, it's a Kenwood aftermarket headunit - MSRP on it was $500 so it's a pretty decent piece. I'm sure I'll notice a huge difference in sound quality with better speakers.
Halftrac, I'm checking out the CDT stuff now.
I'd go with the infinity's as well, I'm just changing out a pair of the component shallow mount 6.5" IR's, they lasted 6 years in 2 different cars. Excellent speakers. I would have bought them again, but felt the need to upgrade to something better sounding and thus more expensive.
If you don't have an amp or sub already, I have some I will sell you. The damn things are just taking up room in my trunk.
Really? Feel free to pm me or post what you have available. I'm currently looking for a small sub and an amp or two.
Well, after getting my sub in the mail I came to the realization that 5.25"'s probably wouldn't cut it. Why, you ask? Because this thing is huge. LOL

So I started shopping around a little more and I found these guys:

I used the "Make an Offer" option and picked them up for $145 with free shipping.
With the 10" sub and the 6.5"'s being driven off a Polk/Momo 50wx4 channel amp I think this little Hyundai is going to sound pretty good. Anybody see any problems with this plan? Please let me know if you see an issue!
By the way, they still have 3 sets of those speakers left so if anybody is interested I'd say throw a lower number out there and see what you can get. I was contemplating $99 so I could get a set for my Jaguar too but I think I've spent enough money for right now. LOL
