Kinda like a farmer and farming....I always thought that if I could afford it, I would love to work at a big-box hardware store.

Pretty much there.laugh

This isnt even big box. This is old school. LowesDepot wouldn't even look at me .

From my understanding you wouldn't want to work at any of the big box stores. Unless it's Costco. But that's not a hardware store.

In reply to clutchsmoke :

Costco is way scarier than any job I've ever had. They have TONS of cool E36 M3, a variety of it, and its cheap. Plus a liquor store. I cant imagine the trouble I'd get into if I could buy a kayak, a mattress, a camry, 40lbs of bacon, half a sheep, a new pair of jeans and a bottle of gin before I left work.

I would like to further Express my gratitude for the well wishes. I'm pretty happy so far. Everyone seems decent, I get to learn a bunch of stuff (I've already learned to cut keys, fill chlorine, put together a grill,  cut chain....) and my commute is almost EXACTLY two miles. I'll miss the gfs discount because it made meat either stupid cheap or free- but I won't miss the corporate E36 M3. My store isnt even a corporate store, it's a franchise.

I get that. The parts house chain I work for is 100% driven by corporate bullE36 M3 and everyone below district manager can't figure out what planet the people at the home office live on, because it sure as hell isn't the same one as the rest of us.

Nice.  The ACE franchise in our town is way more expensive than Lowenardepot, but it's also 2 minutes from my house as opposed to 20 for the big-box stores.  I can say the selection of little hardware there is amazing, and if I can find one of the four or five people who are not high school students, they're all very helpful and knowedgeable...the high school kids are at least friendly and try to be helpful, even if they don't know E36 M3.   I'm surprised they've manage to hang on against the big boxes, but I'm gonna be sad if they ever go.
