OK, no big deal to most of you, but I just ventured inside an iPhone and replaced the screen/digitizer/home button assembly. The spousal units 3GS started acting up after 2.5 years so she gave in and got a new 4S. I inherited it as an 'iPod Touch' and needed to replace the non functioning home button. Scary, but not too hard in the end. Got the parts and tools from Amazon for $15. 30 mins, most of which was reading instructions and watching YouTube how too's and it's now working. I am Awesome to me

I don't know what this means, but I bet I agree.

Apple Certified Macintosh Techinician. I quite drinking the koolaid and let mine lapse years ago
I have a buddy that has a nice side business doing this - pays for his autox consumables by buying busted units off local C-list, fixing them, and flipping them. pulls in a c note or 2 a month this way.
Lets see, wife has 2 pods in need of a fix. One is a touch in need of a new screen, and the other is a dead nano that displays the logo when plugged in.
For your next trick, would you like to replace the screen on a Samsung Galaxy S2?
My iPhone 4 needs a new ear speaker. Just watched a how-to video. Too much disassembly risking too many fragile parts for me. A couple of parts may need replacing as a matter of course, which I probably won't have on hand. I think it will go to someone who knows what they are doing...
PDA/phone repairs suck. Some of them have parts so small they can get stuck under your fingernail.
+1 Basil. I watched the video to replace the screen on an iPod touch and said, no way.
I've done (3) 3GS screens. Only screwed up the fitment of the case on the first one
Not sure if I want to take on the iPhone 4 if/when the screen breaks.
