We gotta get together and finish some film.
Also, our lab is in the middle of Bike Week. Thinking maybe the traffic will be easier in the morning.
Thanks to the Harley dealership at US-1 and I-95, US-1 is kind of a mess this week.
I have that pushed one stop roll of Candido 800t still in my Minolta CLE that as much as I want to shoot, shooting pushed 800 iso film in the day is just yeah no haha.
I took a picture of a kid's biege 944 at a car meet with it and he messages me if I have the picture of his car...oops
Dropped off film on Tuesday. Took the 911 so I could gas it up since I was on our Classic Motorsports Orange Blossom Tour yesterday.
Hope to see some images today.
And Saturday evening we participated in a showcase hosted by the St. Augustine Analog Club.
What’s that? Everyone could submit up to five photos. The theme: Florida.
The club assembled a loop featuring all of the submissions and showed it during a meet-up at a local bar. People could vote, prizes were awarded. Lots of clapping and cheering.
So many good photos–loved seeing the different takes on the theme. Very friendly, welcoming vibe. I got to sit next to someone’s dog.
Looking forward to the next one.
And you can see all of the submissions here.
So, why did I submit a black and white photo of an orange? Oranges say Florida, right?
Also, someone in the group shared a photo of me taking that photo. It got a bit of chatter. The fact I was shooting b/w made it funnier. So I figured I’d share the final photo of the orange. Happy to see my wife participate, too.
I double exposed a roll of film on accident oops.
Basically I have my autofocus SLR set to leave the leader out when it auto-rewinds and I stupidly put it in a camera again and shot through it on Sat. Now I am curious of the results
Got back five rolls last night.
Note to self: Buy more Tri-X.
Valerie with a 1968 Camaro RS/SS that just happened to show up. This is an unedited scan.
So tomorrow–as in Saturday, March 22, 2025–I’m giving a film talk at Bellows Film Lab in Orlando. (Don’t tell anyone, but I’m 44:16.)
And “new” film camera ordered today. Arrives later in the week. :)
Don’t want to jinx anything until it arrives.
Thank you, Andrew, for the help.
New camera, who dis?
I went into this wanting a Leica M6. I got to hold a few, and it seemed like the total package–call it the Porsche 911 of cameras.
And it was similarly priced. Figure about $3000 for the body plus $1800 for the lens.
Would I be happy with an M4 for closer to $2000? No light meter, though. Would I be happy using an external light meter?
What about the Minolta CLE, kind of a product from a Leica/Minolta partnership. Figure close to $1000 for the body; add $700 or so for the matching lens.
Went around in my head on this a lot. Even sold myself on the M6.
TL;DR: I went with the CLE. Love the feel. I got it from KEH. Very slight strap wear. Looks new inside. Lens looks brand new.
Loaded up my first roll yesterday.

Thanks and glad you’re enjoying.
And thank you to aw614 for all the late-night Q&A. :)

Metal AF.
And, yeah, I spent twentysomething bucks on the proper lens cap.
I’ve had that strap forever. Was it originally on my A-1? Can’t recall.
And with the Minolta, I also got this: a yellow filter for my Canon 50. It’s supposed to help with contrast.
Used from KEH for $21.

Thanks for the awesome Turbo II pic!
Porsche ain't too shabby either!
Edit: Since my T2 has transitioned from beater race car to collector car, I'm putting the rear wiper back on. Dunno if I'll ever pull the Haltech off and go back to the stock ECU and airbox, etc.

Thanks. And the realities of that day:
Up early to check in for Radwood at 7:00. Fortunately not too far from our Airbnb.
Once on the field, clean the car and then welcome a ton of visitors at Radwood.
Then across the street for the main concours.
In between, photos (digital since for the magazine), shaking babies, etc.
Finally back at the house at 4:00, eat lunch/dinner and then drive back to Ormond.
Yeah, a full day.
You'll need to log in to post.
