IIRC WW2 subs had wires or something to cut cables holding mines, would have cut the net.  Bet they're pleased it didn't get fouled in the unprotected prop!

This is actually a pretty serious issue that happens more than you would think.

Many times though, the sub snags the nets and pulls the boat under, killing many if not all onboard.

Another, similar story:

I have had to cut Kevlar nets out of retractable bow plains. It sucked.
