What is that on your hood?
12 inch flood light.
If they're the RE050s that came on it... just don't press your luck in ANY kind of snow. It won't go well. They may also be ruined come next spring as others have mentioned. Some soft rubber compounds do not like being used in the cold.
I just bought $1300 of new wheels and snow sneakers for the Maxima. Stock 18", I went for 17s and taller side walls; if you've seen my wife drive you get it.
Depends on the vehicle. Depends on the tire. Depends on if you live somewhere that has a real winter for 4-5 months a year.
I guess I'm a repeat sinner then.
In college I splurged on some Pirelli summer-only rubber for the Impala SS and then didn't have two pennies to rub together come December. I abused those tires for two winters. It was.. um... challenging.
My worst sin was 19 years ago. I had come back from a 4 day weekend to Daytona with my best friend. Truck was still wearing the 255/50/17 Summer tires and it snowed 6 inches while I was asleep. I spent 40 minutes trying to go 1/2 mile round trip before I got it back in the garage and changed to the all seasons.
I've had winter tires once and they were great. I get the affection. But all seasons work for where we are for us. If it's that bad outside, I stay home.
From Road Atlanta last weekend on my Formula Ford. Fortunately it got up to 50 degrees before we got on track. We talked about how cold is too cold to run race tires, and we decided it doesn't really matter in an open cockpit car as it's too cold for the body to handle before it's too cold for the tires.
Don't listen to the false prophets!
My Miata got stuck at the shop and we got a pretty hefty snow/ice event last night. Today I get the "good news", it's ready for me to bring it home. In the mile and a half between the shop and the safety my garage, my Z3 shod Miata (which is normally very well behaved) did its level best to kill me. It looped around several times, fish tailed several times and steadfastly refused to ascend my not-very-steep driveway. Of course all of this was made all the more fun by the "I haz truck" brodozers blazing around like there's nothing going on.
To console myself, I'll probably take out the snow tire shod Yaris and mock all the brodozers who are now stuck up to the axles in the ditch.
You have been warned.

I've watched that Trabant video sooo many times over the years. It still gives me inexplicable desire to own one of these crap cans.

I drive by three non-runners every day on my way into work. I believe they're the 1.1's, but could easily find a 601 in the area no prob. Back in 2009 these things were a dime a dozen. In 2012 I was offered a free, running, Fiat 126 Polski (I passed).
These days? The deals are getting scarce. The people who are buying them now have plans.
