but can you at least not crash berkeyling up the commute for everyone else and effectively starting rush hour at 3:30pm? Or how about if you're going to crash make it single car, find a nice bridge abutment to smash into sending you and your flying hunk of metal and plastic into the depths below so that there isn't any delay for cleanup for the rest of the competent driving world.

I stay late on Friday for this reason. If I'm going to leave early any day of the week, it'll be Monday. I hate Mondays. I need a nice half-day transition into my week.

Thank you, commuter train!

Except when the train derails (last week) or someone offs themselves by train (two weeks ago). But those were the only delays I've had over 15 minutes that weren't due to massive amounts of snow over the past 2 months.

I was home by 2:30. I did not crash.

I spent the last couple of days on the road and have been full of people not paying attention to what they were doing. Traffic has been a royal PITA.

New guy, accepting meeting from a guy 3 levels up. So I'm not stepping on any toes just yet.

Friday is my hammer day. I'm solo and we need all the orders for the weekend loaded before I leave. There is no half day.

Typically the same jackwads that schedule meetings at 11:30 or noon and don't provide lunch.

The secret is, work stupid early in the morning so you have eight under your belt and are still out the door before two.

You are wrong.

The weekend is mine to do with as I please, because if you can't make it in 5, you're in the wrong business.

That is unless you are willing to pay my $145/hr weekend rate. Then the weekend is yours.

Needless to say, I don't work many weekends.

There seems to be at least some benefits to putting in lots of hrs when necessary. I bounced at 3:30 and got the countertops trimmed up and ready for adhesive!

Some portion of the daily traffic isn't commuting to or from work...so how do you feel about folks that don't work on Friday and just happen to be out running errands or taking car of personal bidness in the middle of the afternoon? Assuming personal bidness is not a 3+ Martini lunch?

I was almost hit head on by a Tahoe who decided to occupy my own lane coming home last night. I actually had to veer onto the lawn of the golf course to my right. The E36 M3bag in the Tahoe had the nerve to blow the horn. If there had been a guard rail there this would have most certainly been a different sort of post.

It's good that they didn't stop to see if I was OK because I would surely have tried murder the motherberkeleyer on the spot.

berkeley you, you drunken asshats of Pennsylvania. Stay the berkeley at the bar until I get home safely.

Jeez, I don't live in a huge metropolitan area, but rush hour starts at 3:30 pretty much every day here. Fridays, I don't think it ever NOT rush hour.

most of the manufacturing places around here have first shift get off at 3 or 3:30, so there can be somewhat of what we would call a "traffic jam" around here around that time, but would be mild by metropolitan standards. generally, it just means that you have to wait a couple of minutes before you can make a left turn onto US highway 12..
