I found this in my oil pan... the pump seized, one of the rod caps exploded!

I love it when wanna-be mechanics try to diagnose an engine problem. Now, if you knew what you were talking about you'd know that the engine is just self-balancing. It's simply shedding extra rotating mass

Maybe the PO got the gas pedal stuck on a floormat?

(ducking, running away)

lol, probably.

The PO claims that he was on a cool down lap when the engine "just quit", and it locked up the rears.

The spare engines oil pan was clean as a whistle. not even a faint hint of metal in the oil.

Jeez, sounds like a racing bike. Except for the not falling on the road and sliding for an eternity part..

You going to try to just bolt the thing and see how it goes, or are you going to go through it a little more first?

Does that mean you can repair a head gasket in your sleep?

I do know what Fast Orange tastes like. (Not orange, btw.)

Yeah, the other engine was supposedly running when it came out of a cressida. So far, it looks like it was. I really don't want to take the head off, because a head gasket is over 200 dollars... So, I am going to take my chances, see what I can do with the engine without digging too far into it.

I heard that Valvoline was having issues with debris in its oil. Perhaps you should contact the manufacturer and see if perhaps that got in there during an oil change.

if vavloline is selling chunky oil.. can they also make some premixed with water?

and while I do prefer to diagnose mechanical problems over electrical.. I find the electrical are cheaper to fix (or bypass)

7M's are good at that kind of thing. I would love to put one in my Supra for an instant 50+hp. But then I think about how I have never seen one last that is modified or driven hard. How can an engine that is based on the 4AGE be so bad?
