Every freaking time I want to post a comment on Jalopnik, I have to go through all kinds of struggles with goddam Google. Which I hate and avoid at all costs be cause it is so hard to use and oppressive and unreliable. Now, they have changed their login system once again, and I cannot get in. My existing screen names and passwords don't work, creating a new one doesn't work, and you can't just join and be done with it...you have to be linked to some other account which I do not want. Screw them, screw their comments, thank you GRM for keeping it simple.

I gave up on Jalopnik a long time ago. That way the problems you are having don't even exist.

Wait you're complaining GOOGLE is hard to use, oppressive, and unreliable while trying to use Jalopnik? What a mixed up day today is!

Berkeley Jalopnik. I can't log in with my old screen name anymore, I can't create a "Burner" account, and I'm sure as hell not logging in with Facetube or Google. I'm done with them now.

Anyone know of another good automotive blog to read whilst on my lunch break at work?

I don't blame you pinchvalve. What's even worse is you can't comment from their mobile site. I have to try to use the full site and it's just a pain in the dick on the phone.

hooniverse.com If you're not there already, why?

i have been creeping on whatmonstersdo.com and maydaygarage.com lately too. I dont comment though I just look. Mostly drift/jdm type stuff but sometimes has some other variety too. Unlike some of those other jdm ball sucking blogs.

I like hooniverse, but the updates are slower than I'd like. What I can't find is something that reports on current automotive news in a timely fashion. Used to read Autoblog, but don't anymore for reasons I won't go into. Same with jalopnik. Are there any others like those that are better?

This. ^

Paper car magazines (other than GRM and other magazines specifically dedicated to modifying and/or racing cars) suck. I want to read about new cars. Jalopnik was a good source for that, but their comment system and the sheer amount of bugs their website has are starting to tick me off.

It's Autoblog + Hooniverse + Bang Shift for me.

I don't mind www.thetruthaboutcars.com. As a bonus, ex-Jalop blogger Murillee Martin posts there occasionally.

The only reason I bother with Jalopnik anymore is NPOCP, and even that's getting pretty lame.

I gave up on the entire Gawker network as soon as every article started with "Hey, look at this summary of an article we found on another site!"

Jalopnik has gone downhill ever since they changed the format. The writing, such as it is, has suffered. At least one "journalist" often shows his lack of vocabulary, art, and maturity through unwarranted and gratuitous use of the "f" word.

Hooniverse is the hang out for the cool kids who used to comment at Jalopnik before its downfall. I also read TTAC to keep up on current events, but Inside line's long-term road test blog is worth checking out if just for the "Suspension Walkarounds".

I think there's a typo in the thread title. For some reason the word "comments" is tacked on the end...

I am on the leading edge: I quit Jalopnik about three years ago.

MotoIQ is cool, but I feel there is way too much drifting stuff there.

I met Dave on a Mazda press trip a while back. I sat down with him to ask him to explain something in the rear suspension, ended up looking at pics of his crazy Hyabusa Miata on his iPhone. He's def one of us, with the best job imaginable for a crazy car guy.

We do have a lot of drifting content. In our defense, the vast, VAST majority of that content is of a technical nature and from professional drifting teams such as Dai Yoshihara and Falken Tire. The setup of a good, professional-quality drift car is actually pretty similar to the setup of a road-race or autocross car. Personally, I think it's a refreshing change from the Formula D content provided on certain other online magazines who mainly cater to the "hellaflush-stance" crowd.
