While at work yesterday I was on a machine moving a panel and started losing control of the piece. While shifting my weight to help drop it in a semi controlled manner I lost my footing and tumbled backwards at a slight angle and landed on a 4x4 steel bars on the top of the machine impacting my left ribs about mid way around the back.
That hurt like the dickens.
I have had X rays and took today off but holy frijoles does that crap hurts.
Owch! I hope you recover quickly.
Not being able to breathe without pain sucks.
Keep an eye out for pneumonia. I've had it a couple of times after having broken ribs from not being able to breathe deeply. Apparently it's fairly common from breaking ribs as we get older
Also, don't sneeze
Cracked ribs suck but there's nothing you can do. Sux even more when your significant other rolls over in the night and throws an arm over !!!!

I have a heavy Siamese cat named Loki. He has this thing that when I am laying on the bed he occasionally performs a surprise attack and jumps on my nuggets.

I was leaving hope that the name came after the observed behaviour. We typically have un-named pets fora little bit in our house until they "tell" us what their names should be.

Well, it already had a crack in it...
I feel for you, with three bouts of bruised and cracked ribs, do not envy your pain. Strangest thing happened, my first sneeze hurt so bad for the next six weeks any time I felt one coming it would just go away on its own.
Last smashed rib was trying to fit some push lock tube that I forgot way up under the intake on BMW six. If I leaned on the radiator support and reached as far possible I could just reach it, just scootch a bit more then snap. With all my weight on that last rib it just gave way.
Ouch. I bruised some ribs way back on July 1 and they're still a bit sore. Especially when sleeping since I'm a side-sleeper. Can confirm with Stampie and his "we old farts don't bounce like we used to" assessment.
Being steeped in the corporate world, I'm wondering if an EHS lost-time injury investigation is in your future.

I tried to break up a three-dog fight last fall. They were 10 feet away. When I arrived I fell on all three, thus breaking up the fight. That messed up a shoulder and a knee for weeks. I think I'm officially old.
Gravity always wins.

Yep. Rolled through that and the video presentation as well as live action role play. Luckily I am on the safety committee, most of the others in the group don't have a great sense of humor.

One of my employees learned that lesson this morning. After all the rain, he slipped coming down his front steps. He just got out of the ER.
Cracked vertebrate in his back. Off through next week and then 6 weeks of light duty.
