I've had "Check ID" written in the signature line on the back of my credit card for years... never had anyone ask for an ID! (to be fair, I don't use credit cards a lot)

Both my dad and I have had that happen as well. According to what someone at the company told my dad, they dont even have to steal the numbers. They can get the first sets of numbers that dont change, and put in the rest at randow and keep trying them to make a small donation to a charity or whatever, then when they get one that works, sell the number to someone who wants to buy a bunch of electronics and airline tickets quickly before the card gets cancled.
