I hate this car the most.

But this one is in GREAT shape. But still........A Datsun F10..................

What car do you totally hate? Mustang II ? Gremlin? BMW 2002? JK

I've actually been looking for one of those for years now, one of my favorites. I still have the sidedraft manifold and some other speed parts for the A14 I've been hoarding just-in-case.

Of course that one is as far away as it could be from me, and already out of my "silly car" price range, but still....

If I remember right, there is/was a hatchback/fastback version of this car as well...it makes THIS model look good in comparison. I always wondered if the headlights on this car were DRASTICALLY different on the models sold in Japan and/or Europe...I mean look at those chrome rings...there's room for 2 headlights on each side there.

Ugliest car, in my opinion? Also built by Nissan...the B 210, especially in that nasty mustard yellow.

The F10 is right up there with the '62 Dodge Dart as the ugliest of the ugly. For a truly lousy car, though, I don't think you can beat the Plymouth Cricket. They were so awful, even the junkyards that never crushed any cars don't have one.

The F10 is one car I've never wanted to own.

Totally disagree with the B210 comment.

The F10 is one of those cars that's so ugly it's cute. One things for sure, if you own one there is a never ending question you'll have to answer.

WTF is that?

The B210 hatch is one of the best looking Japanese cars of the era IMO. The B210 sedan not so much. The F10 only valued for uniqueness, not style.

I drove B210 for a tme in high school and my uncle concurrently had an F10. The B210 was by far the superior car IMO.

You can't hate the Mustang II. It saved the Mustang name and soul from almost certain doom caused by that fuel craze of the 70s (or 80s -- it's early and I don't feel like fact checking).

I cannot stand the Pontiac Aztek. It looks like they tried a cross-over of a vehicle that handles like a truck, has the cargo and seating capacity of a medium car, and the fuel mileage of an SUV. All of the worst traits in every platform got transfered to this vehicle . . . and then they made it look like a turtle on drugs. A just and loving God would have never let something like the Aztek happen.

what is a shame about the Aztek... according to their (few) owners, it was one of the best screwed together cars that GM made. the JDpowers survey showed it was way above average for a lack of faults.

As for the F10.. I think that Datsun/nissan was trying too hard

I like the Mustang II (I particularly liked the King Cobra a buddy had just for the sheer sillyness of muscle car d-odads on a car of that scale!) and the Gremlin (a track steward at VIR a few years ago had a silver Gremlin there that would make the most ardent anti-AMC's fan get all hot and bothered).

I never lked the Aztek, Transvan, or Avlanche (with cladding)... but I just bought myself one of the latter and absolutely love it....

The F10 was a holdover from an era of Japnese styling excesses...

What do I really hate? Banglized BMW's. As someone posted earlier (brilliant quote) "I'm just glad Bangle was still playing with his Barbies when my E30 was designed."

I also don't like the current "folded paper" school of design that Cadillac has gone to. It's striking, but I though the Pininfarina-influenced previous generation cars were more attractive.

Don't mind the F10 too much. Sure it's ugly as hell but at least it isn't generic.

My least favourite car of all time has to be the Tempo/Topaz. I can't think of a single reedeming feature on one of those. If someone offered me one for free I would turn it down because it'd be too much of a pain to try and flip it, let alone actually use the thing. Even if it were a V6 5spd AWD (which do exist.)

Chevette of any flavor, what a POS. I dated a girl with one, nothing at all to like about it. Slow, drove horribly, ugly, pieces falling off when it was new, crap through and through. It has to be the worst car I ever drove bar none. A Vega is the crown jewel of the GM empire by comparison!

I'll also second the Tempo/Topaz twins, and throw in a Renault Alliance into the mix.

I'm starting to develop a real strong distaste for anything with a Volkswagen logo on it. If they were people they'd be the sort of charming barfly who promises much, delivers little and schmoozes their way into your life so they can "please baby please" you into pawning the family silver to support them.

If VW troubles only extended to the 20+ year old cars I and my friends actually own then I'd just chalk it up to them being old, well worn, and ripe with neglected maintenance.

But I've heard story after story of newer VW owners having problem after problem after problem, even with religious care, and yet every other garden variety brand can be relied upon with regular maintenance.

You could say much the same about many an Italian car, but at least there you can chalk it up to the natural tendencies of the Italian artiste to lost interest when it comes to the niggling little details.

But VWs are German. Germans are legendary for being anal retentive, so when a German car fails on you, you can only suspect that it failed with intent, so as to snare you with a charming car, then lure you into the dealership over and over and over with a series of suspiciously regular failures.

And to top it all off with more damning anecdotal evidence, my folks own a New Beetle. I was told yesterday that it somehow gets the WORST mileage of all three of their cars, and one of those cars is a full size Nissan minivan with a big V6. The wheels on that van are huge; they must weigh at least half what the Beetle does all by themselves.

I could almost hear the Bavarians giggling at their own cleverness when I got told that. I'm sure that tiny Beetle was bought with the expectation of decent mileage, too. Talk about bait and switch.

If I had to choose between a Mk2 Golf and an Aztek right now, I'd probably take the Aztec. I've even met women who like the Aztec. Admittedly, they were very strange women.

If what mad_machine said about Aztec build quality is true, then I almost feel like buying one just because of all the Haterade that gets poured on them, except I don't need anything minivan sized right now.

People seem to love (and buy) Volkswagens on sight due to design and marketing, then end up defending that purchasing decision the same way others defend marrying a drunk.

I don't think VW really wants much of the US market, otherwise they'd engineer those charming little cars to the same standards that even us fat lazy Yankees have managed to obtain. I'm pretty sure they just sell cars here as revenge for WWII.

I had a friend that bought one of those AWD Tempo's when they came out. It was a nightmare to own.

The concept was ahead if it's time, back in the day.
