I have a Line Ward line puller. The eccentric gear has broken down in the valley between the gearbox and the motor. I have completely disassembled the drive system but I cannot figure out how to get the gear out. It seems to be suspended by stub shafts between the two bearings, but do I build some kind of a puller? Is there a hidden circlip?
I'm stumped.
Anyone?
Is it a press-fit shaft, through the gear? Can you see both sides of the shaft, outside the case?
Nope. There is a sprocket pressed into a roller bearing which is pressed into the case. Case is cast in a sort of U shape and the exact same arrangement is on the oposite side of the case. Suspended in the middle is the gear. (actually sort of a single throw crankshaft arrangement. ) I cannot see most of the bearing behind the gear and I cannot see down into the valley where the gear is suspended. I think there is a puller the factory uses.
Have you tried calling the company. Looks like they have a pretty good parts department which usually means they have someone that works on them.

I really need $10, but I don't even know what a line puller is. Photos of the problem area?
Hmmm, I THINK I know what a line puller is but if it's what I think it is...never saw one break and just assumed you head to buy a new one when it did.
