I'm so sorry. Aren't animals amazing in their ability to sense distress and offer comfort?
Glad to hear you have them to share your sadness.

I'm sorry to hear about your friend passing...

Your situation sounds almost exactly like what we had to deal with 4 years ago. Kody never missed a meal until "that day" -- and I had to carry a 100# junkyard looking dog into the ER in Southlake because he couldn't walk. No stroke, but a tumor wrapped around his heart/lungs ruptured and he had to cross over.

Your other furkids will take care of you this weekend. We'll be thinking of you.

Yep. K2 is 79 pounds and I had to carry her in to the vet this morning. My back is still sore. We do crazy things for our dogs. Why can't they live as long as we do?

Here are my huskies a few years ago during one of the few snowstorms to hit Dallas. K2 is the one on the left who I lost today. Porsche, the white husky behind her died last year. Balto, the big male on the right side of the picture I lost in 2008. Snowball, the black and white in the middle of the picture is the only one of the four in this picture that is still alive. All but one of these huskies are gone now.

Here is K2 enjoying a dip in the pool with one of my foster boys. She was always the perfect host when I brought rescue dogs back from the pound.

Me, my dog pack and some of my doggie friends are going to have a wake for K2 at the White Rock Lake Dog Park in Dallas tonight. Feel free to stop by.

I grew up with Siberians... 13 is old for a huskey... Sorry you had to go through this.. no matter how ready or not you are, it is always heart wrenching to say goodbye to dear friend like that

About to take our fluffy one on his evening walk. We'll chase an extra squirrel in memorium.

Pulled out her paperwork last night. She was the only dog I have that wasn't a rescue. Her birthdate was on the AKC paperwork confirming her as actually 14 years old. She had a long life with lots of trips to the dog park and even a few trips to the snow. Somehow I think there is a new Siberian puppy in my future, and some temporary space for another foster dog.

Thanks for the support, guys!

Very sorry to hear. I went thru this in november of last year and, we thought we were prepared (14 here as well, and not unexpected). It still sucked hard. Condolences.

Friday I lost my dog. Mourned her all weekend.

Today at 11:00 the boss calls me into his office and.......

Yeah. I'm looking for work again. Not that I didn't expect it. The firm didn't have a whole lot of active cases nor did they have the money to buy the specialized legal software I usually use. This happened to me a couple of years ago. Everybody went out the door after me. Firm doesn't exist anymore. I'm wondering how much longer this one will last. At least I am getting a good recommendation. Also getting one from the last guy who laid me off. Just got off the phone with him today. He is speaking to the Animal Law Section of the Paralegal Association that am on the board of.

I'm actually considering a career change but at this point I have no idea as to what. At my age, chances are I will probably lose my house and my cars soon and be out on the street. Not sure anybody is hiring guys my age anymore. I'm just glad that K2 didn't live long enough to see me fight her for her dog food at dinner time.
