I got picked up driving on twisty road that winds around a lake and a pond. The cop claimed I was doing 37 in a 25, reduced to 10 over. It's possible. I know that most people don't go 25 on that road.
Remind me, guys...What options do I have?

Yes, I know that's an option. What I want to know is if there are any methodologies for protesting that might be valid.
[...and the irony is that I'm one of the slowest people I know.]
Plead guilty, pay a boatload of money and get 2 or 3 points on your license.
Lawyer up, pay the man $200, pay the court system $ _____ and get no point on your license.

That one.
Show up 1/2 hour early for court. Talk to the DA, plead no-lo, and ask him/her to drop the points and reduce the fine. They'll probably not reduce the fine, but will more than likely get rid of the points. Until I just paid one straight up (Like a berkeleying idiot,) I had zero points on my license with countless tickets.
YMMV.
Look and see if your local area does Deferments. Its something like pay the fine and no points, but you must behave for X amount of time.

I hadn't heard about that. What's it short for?

"No lo contendre." Or it might be "no contest" in your state. Google dat E36 M3.
Biggest thing to remember is they want the money, and want to get it as efficiently as possible. Just show up to court. Sometimes the DA is just sitting there, happy to talk to you and take your money. Sometimes you have the option of requesting a "pre-trial consultation," other times you have to do a bench trial with the judge.
In reply to poopshovel:
No contest just means you aren't challenging the charges, I did that when I was 16 and still got nailed with 4 points.

Depends. Were you speeding?
IIRC, fl has a thing where you take the online course and adjudication is withheld (no ins. hit).
I got "caught" doing 70 in a 55 on a stretch that I know is a trap. Went to court to fight based on entrapment (I was moving out of the LEO's way as he came flying up behind me), DA was waiting outside the courtroom doing ticket reductions on the spot (got a 64 in a 55, so no points). Paid the fine and court costs. If you get out of the fine, you'll still have to pay the court, generally. It took longer to get through the metal detector than dealing with my ticket. For a 10 over, I wouldn't hire an attorney unless you have a personal relationship with one.

I can't honestly say, since I wasn't paying attention. I certainly wasn't pushing it through the twisties.

Yup, and I'm eligible to do so (It has been long enough since my last ticket that it is allowed....I checked online.)
You should be able to talk to the DA before hand (days/weeks before). They should talk with you for free, IIRC.

You still have to request that they drop the points. The plea is simply so that you won't have a guilty plea on your record, and they don't have to berkeley around with a trial.
You're in Florida. Just take the class (rent the DVD from Blockbuster) and then don't screw up for a year.

They still have Blockbuster in other states?
But yeah, pretend you're not pissed to be there, wear some clean clothes, tone down the right foot.

QFT. y0.
Just call up a lawyer and let him take care of it. It will probably be cheaper and less time consuming.
No lo con-testis means you don't have the balls to fight it and subpenis means they got you by the balls.
I always just took the class first one was before the online/dvd days... second one was online
your numbers still reminds me of the ticket that pissed me off the most, road was a cross roads to school ave that I used to get to HS (road was a mile long, had the HS at one end, and middle school in the middle... entire thing 20mph at all times)... was in my '82 diesel buruban... road had always been a gravel road with a 35 limit (which couldn't be done in my burban because of how short the road was and how slow the truck was)... over a weekend it was suddenly paved and they dropped the speed to 20... come monday they had a few cops sitting at the end... I think my first class of the day we had 3 of us who'd been nabbed by them... in a school of 2000 I'm sure they made a nice bit of $$$ of us that day
