Got a letter in the mail today from the lawyer of the lady I was pushed into. No insurance company, she went straight to the car accident specialists and now has serious injuries. The lady who hit me still swears some one shoved her in to me. In the mean time I had xrays taken today and my neck is too straight with about 80% range of motion and my back is out of alignment. Yeah me!

On the bright side the lady back doctor was really keen on my gray hair.

The older Mercedes in the 60's started using the crumple zones, so if you want real old classic cars with decent crash protection get one of those. Id still prefer an all metal bumpered full frame car in a slow speed crash. Those newer cars crush at such low speed they get totaled while the older cars just brush it off. NASCAR cars are pretty tough though, they have full cages and all that safety stuff so they can take a big hit and the driver walks away, with exceptions like Dale SR with his freak accident.

When her car is sent to the crusher, request that she's still strapped into the driver's seat.

ah yes.. how accident lawyers work.. I do not envy you this part.

Years and years ago I was involved in an accident in a work vehicle. I had to swerve to avoid a moron and ran straight into the back of a stopped pickup that was waiting to turn.

The gentleman I hit, had a heart condition and was scheaduled to go to his specialist the next week, but due to the accident hurting his back, could not do a physical stress test. A month later, he had a massive heartattack but survived

His lawyer had to sue me (and the company I work for) in order to prove that the accident prevented him from taking a physical stress test so that he could go after the doctor who did not do a chemical stress test instead...

I am still a little bitter about it.. I lost a good job over that. After the lawsuit was delivered, the insurance company dropped me like a hot potato and I could not do my work functions anymore

Yeah... BTDT. When I was younger (20 years ago) I rear-ended a couple with my truck. Minimal damage to the car and none to my truck. A month or so later, I get the letter from the lawyer, suing me for $100k for "traumatic" injuries. No police report. No ambulance. Just a insurance exchange and on our way.

After a fair bit of panic, I gave it all to my insurance company and that was last I heard about it. A couple of years later I was talking to my agent and asked if he knew the outcome. A few keystrokes later and found they eventually settled for $2800.

I got into a minor anccident in college with an older woman where I pulled out blind in front of her at the end of my block. My fault technically. Cops, tickets for me, and exchanged insurance, later that day I get a call from her daughter wanting to "confirm my inssurance information" I never heard anything about it again. When I moved states and went to get new inssurance I was informed my rates would be high due to my major accident with injury. Apparently my inssurance had payed out somewhere near $7000 in injury claim with me none the wiser. The woman, spurred on by her daughter no doubt, decided to get a pay day on the "rich" college kids inssurance. I was so rich I drove an old CRX and worked 30-40 hours a week to afford college and living in that really sketchy neighborhood. I am pretty sure she was not really hurt nor was there that much damage to her 198x ford fairmont battle sedan. She just stripped the front bumper off my crx. Oh well lesson learned now I try to only have accidents with inanimate objects that cannot sue. Trees, ditches and fences.
