...Because I'm starting a new job tomorrow morning!
I've been with my old company, a financial giant employing over 20k people, for nearly 10 years. When I started, it was a great place to work. I saw myself growing there and working there forever. After almost 10 years, I was only one step up from the bottom and had made about 3 parallel moves. And on top of that, my group was under siege, and was an HR nightmare that no one would deal with, even though I personally made two formal complaints. I even tried moving internally a few times, and they blocked me each time. There are rumors every month of massive layoffs, and they recently announced that 600 people in my area are getting canned, with more on the horizon. And on top of that, they are cutting benefits to the bone, which was the only reason I stayed so long.
Well, enough of that.
I start at a new place tomorrow. Instead of 20K employees, this company has less than 1k, and probably less than 200 in my building. No more locked access doors that break all the time, I will be called by name and not an employee number, and my commute is cut in half. Hell, I can take back roads if I want! Benefits and pay are better, and no more hostile work environment! The people at the new place have a much better attitude and are genuinely happy.
But until I get on my feet, I probably won't be posting as much as I used to. See you guys on the flipside!

Sounds like a win almost all the way round. Good luck!
Good luck. I hope to be making a similar post soon.
Congrats on getting out of a hellish work environment.
Good luck. I started a new job last month, going from a large company to a small startup and it was a really good move for me.
Hope it works out for you, too.
Congratulations. I got a new job a few weeks ago too. It definitely cuts into the posting time.
Best of luck.
Congrats! The old job truly sounds hellish, good for you for having put up with it as long as you did, even better for you for having found a path UP and OUT of that purgatory. Well done sir!

and to all you guys that got new jobs and had them cut into your posting time …
now you get to be like the rest of us, and post from home AFTER work, rather than while at "work"
Congratulations. And remember, you are not a number.

Congrats. Hope the new job turns out to be everything it can be.
I recently left a hostile work place like that. What a world of difference it makes... like that 800 pound gorilla was finally lifted off my back.
Thanks for all the kind words everyone!!!
In my old job, I was a "Class Actions Specialist". Basically, I reviewed client transactions and filed on behalf of huge clients in big cases. Lots and lots of data analysis, and the corporate environment and apathetic corporate culture was just terrible, so it made everything way more difficult than it had to be. I spent more time doing other people's work than my own. And then there were all the HR issues, the awful, soul sucking commute, etc. My life was a living hell for a long time, and I felt powerless and stuck. One of the only websites that was not blocked there was GRM. It helped keep me sane.
I'm typing this on my lunch break at the new place, where I'm in the "IT Department" but I'm going to be doing a mix of basic IT stuff (setting up computers for people) and Data Analysis. The commute was a pleasure, and I didn't sit in one second of traffic. I was actually HAPPY when I arrived! Everyone here is great, and they are happy to have me here. It doesn't hurt that it's basically a promotion and pay bump as well.
I'm going to learn to love life again!

Difference between a rut and a grave is the depth of the rut. congratulations on getting out of your rut.
It sounds like win, win, win, win. That's pretty rare indeed.
