This spring I took a class for folks that wanted to start a business. Since I'm unemployed the state paid for it. In the summer I was interviewed by the Flint Journal and saw my name in print. Thought that was pretty cool. Well, I got a call this morning and it appears Tuesday afternoon I'm meeting with the freakin' governor!
Not that I care either way about her politics but I'm diggin' the free publicity.
Now, my next question is, how do you address the governor of a state? Madam Governor, Mrs. Granholm, Jenny?

She may be an elected official but she is really just a citizen, just like you. Don't church it up. Speak to her as if she were any other person you just met.

Come on, do your best Forrest Gump impersonation "Jenn-ay"
"Hey Bozo" always works well when things aren't going well.
I was always told, if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all

I would address them as Madam Governor. Just as you would if you were meeting the President.
While I agree that they are just another person, you are not showing the particular person respect, but rather the office of the people that they happen to hold (and probably not much longer).

Smile and be nice. If you have a point to make, be direct and respectful. Then take a shower, 'cause politicians can make you feel dirty.
it doesn't matter what you call her if you shoot her in the face....
I'm actually pretty stoked. I don't care about her politics, I just care about free publicity. I'll have something to put on my web page that make me look all important.

Much better to look important than to be impotent.
Be courteous, be positive and be professional; you'll make a much better impression to prospective employers.
You could address her as "Jenny on the Block" as a service to Drew & Mike.
Congrats. Make the most of it, you know the politicians will.
Since I no longer have respect for any politician or the office they hold, I would just call her Ms. what ever her last name is. She's going to lie to you. She is only using you to garner votes for herself. I'm glad to hear you will be using her in turn. You might be the only person I know to actually get something useful out of a political figure.
You can use Madam Governor if you can make it come out sounding like My Damn Governor.
My favorite story about addressing someone important: At the closing ceremonies of the 1912 Olympics, King Gustav V of Sweden told Jim Thorpe, "Sir, you are the greatest athlete in the world!" To which Thorpe reportedly replied, "Thanks, King."
Simply 'Governor,' no gender title necessary. You don't greet male governors as Mister Governor.
Just call her 867-5309. ;)
I thought about calling her Jenny from the block in a tribute to Drew and Mike (for those not able to listen to Drew and Mike in the morning, so sorry for your terrible luck). The Forest Gump and the 80's song are great.
honesty is the best policy...call her useless.
Good luck boost! Like toyman said, Im glad you can use her back.
