I'm not artistic and don't have photoshop. Be kind.
Imagine three horizontal stripes 1" tall each, in three colors. red white blue; orange yellow black, etc. If they run along the beltline of a car, I'd like to have a checkerboard fade ending at the tail light. So, near the end of the run, cut the stripes individually into 1", then 3/4" and 1/2" rectangles with larger spaces in between as it goes along.
I've searched for images with no luck, my graphics guy is on vacation.
Sorta like this but never changing its vertical height. Also, would you have the fade go from large to small squares or small to larger?
Thanks, Dan

From large to small squares is my vote, and preferably with a "fade" of the colors.
+1 for large to small squares with a fade (although the fade will be harder to produce in a sticker). Could make a mockup but won't have time before tonight.
I just wanted to jump in and point out that, especially for most modern cars, you can, relatively easily, mock up paint, stripes, logo's etc in Gran Tourismo (I suspect Forza also). If you have it of course. Great way to view it from different angles etc also.
Here is a VERY simple one I did in GT Sport. For a work project actually!

My son sent me an email (I thought he was hard at work) with a pdf of photos, any idea how to make this into a photo?
Screen shot, open in Photoshop, export from Acrobat (I am not sure if Reader will do that).
So, probably screen shot. If you want to message them to me, I can easily output them.
Ian worked some magic, this is very close.
Painters: "If it ain't right paint it white!!"

In reply to 914Driver :
Isn't the car supposed to be fast before it gets racing strips.
Well yeah, but you're also supposed to make an engine run before you pull it for transplant.
You've not familiar with my M.O.? I love getting shot in the foot.
First mockup, with large to small squares and no fade:
