Is that an example of a $15k deuce? Is that diesel? Can it maintain highway speeds pulling 10k lbs of race trailer? It looks terribly uncomfortable in there compared to my 2500HD but sometimes it is better to look good than to feel good.

There's one a few blocks away parked on a pile of rocks. You can probably just hot wire it.

When I was a kid, I was all about Half-tracks and Power Wagons.
Wow that is a seriously good deal. Makes those "boutique trucks" like the Power Wagon replicas look like the awful deal they are.

Rode in a half track when I was in third grade. The guy who owns it also owns a military collectable store. Being in the military surplus business, http://www.starsandstripesoutfitters.com , we send business back and fourth. Good guy. Neat toy.
My BIL bought a pair of 2.5's for less than $5k each about 4 years ago. He and his wife and I drove up to Indianapolis to pick them up, spent half the morning tracking down new batteries, drove them home. 55 or 60 mph was about as fast as they'd go on the flat, slightly faster/slower depending on the grade. And LOUD. We wore earmuffs the whole way home and I had a crashing headache by the time we got to St Louis.
I don't know if that changes the aforementioned bobbed truck a better deal or not.
In reply to JohnInKansas:
My friend has a duece and half that cost him around less $5k as well. It will do 55mph and not much more. But when you need to haul a lot of stuff it is hard to beat. Also his is for sale. ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/wink-18.png)
Thanks that's what I needed, ANOTHER site to consume time and wishful thinking on.
Interesting stuff though...

Back away slowly and don't make eye contact. Those things may be able uproot your hometown but they can't even maintain the speed limit on base. Back home I am constantly (along with everyone else) stuck behind one pulling a jet engine around Tinker.
got to do some searching on the dueces...appearantly they go pretty cheap. which means you could have a second car to get attention in. Would be fun but good lord they are huge and heavy. Maybe a quad cab duece would be better haha.
1O MPG is a hard pill to swallow too but for a fun toy maybe not.
I am intrigued but have no cash

two words:
cummins diesel
They had the CJ-10, same as above. I-6 motor stupid gearing, slow but interesting.
I've always thought bobbed deuces were fantasmagorically cool, but i don't own a farm large enough to justify one.

Do they make them in a long cab? I keep wanting one and my wife keeps telling me that we can't own anything that requires the kids to ride in jump seats in the back.
