So my daughter is in school for full days now(1st grade). Needless to say I get very board with out home on my days off..
So I got a part time job to kill the time (one day a week) at my local hobby shop. I refer it to being a crack shack..lol. So now I get a better discount on the part I brake parts on my remote control cars. This should be good because I racing in 2 classes next season

Yeah, the hobby shop. I didnt even interview for the job. I just told them what days I could work. They even pay me to...lol
I managed a hobby shop for a lot of years. Try not to spend your entire check every week. 
Maybe some of you guys can tell me why my T-Maxx won't start anymore - fully charged EZ start battery, good wire connections to the starter motor. Plug in the EZ start wand, hit the button, nothing happens, not even a light on the EZ start wand for the glow plug or the 'start' light. I confirmed the motor's not locked up. I know, I know, convert to manual start, but when it worked flawlessly last time I used it. The real problem is probably that it's been 12 months since it last got started. What do I check to make this thing work, so my 10 year old boy can get some experience with this thing before the snow flies?

I swear I got a job at a Hobby Store in high school the exact same way...
I got to know a local hobby shop owner well. He said that his employees never leave with a paycheck. Crack, indeed.

If its been sitting that long, its probably the glow plug. Pull it out, connect the wire, ground it on the head, push the EZ start button, and see if it lights. Check the fuel filter (you have one, right?) Are you using old gas? That stuff goes bad.
old gas and glow plug sound like they would be no start problem.
And so far the gf is pretty helpful on how to spend the check..lol
I'd agree with old gas and glow plug if it turned over but didn't start, but the starter motor doesn't do anything when I push the button. It doesn't make even a feeble attempt to spin the motor over, not a whimper, nada.
the fuel has an affinity for moisture, so if its sat more than a few months it will be no good. also a lot of people have removed the glow plug wire and used a rechargeable glow plug ignitor, to give more juice to the starter, and also pre-heat the glow plug (the EZ-start only lights the plug when you're cranking the motor).
I'd remove the electric motor and see if it spins. It might be locked up. When you press the EZ start button, does it act like the motor isn't getting any juice? Is there another starter you can borrow? It might be time to visit the crack house for help.
pull starters for those are not to badly priced. They might be around $20 or so. I am not a nitro guy tho. I have always been electric my self.
off the wall RC motor/engine question.....is it possibly to use small displacement 2-strokes (say from a weed whip)?
There are 1/10 and 1/8 scale RC cars, but the WW engines would be too big for those.
The big 1/4 scale cars are generally two stroke powered. It's usually a Zenoah. http://www.zenoah.com/ Those are kissin' cousins to weedwacker engines.
When I was into RC in a big way, the hobby shop owner used to joke that I should just put my paycheck on direct deposit to his store. Motorcycle racing was cheaper.
