I subscribe to a Government auction website. There are some interesting deals every now and then. The site is new and it is E36 M3. It is often down and links are dead. Please note that I can often not access the site itself. Here is my email to the powers that be:

Not sure what the issue is with your site but your links are often dead. It is not me because I experience this in ie explorer, google chrome and also my phone running bb10. So sometimes I cannot bring up the site itself unless I go there through links on the larger gov website, and sometimes such as now I cannot open the individual auction posting links.

Here is their fix for me:

Depending on your method of connecting, the links may not work My advice would be to use the emails as info only and if interested, you can log in to the site directly from your saved location

Where is the little GIF to show me banging my head on my desk?

Everyone knows that the best and brightest go to work for Uncle Sam. The washouts all end up in private enterprise.

I guess my point was that if it was me as a private person running an auction website that relied on lots of traffic to boost bids and maximize revenue, I would say "gee, thanks for letting us know! We will fix those glitches immediately".

But government doesn't really give a E36 M3 about the revenue end and could not care less whether or not their site is simple to access. I am Canadian but I expect the thought process can be applied to most government bodies.

In Japan, this actually happens. There is a long standing thread in the culture that regards civil service jobs with the same or higher status as private industry. Government agencies recruit just as hard from the top universities as any company.

It's a joke, obviously referencing the parallels that exist between the not so best & brightest.

As a government employee I'm just going to say "thanks" to that comment and ignore the rest of this thread.

You'll need to log in to post.
