Water resistance is easy - and it more than enough for not submerging a car.
Water proof is really hard- which is also to say expensive. Given flood cars are automatically totaled, there's no real economic reason to waterproof EV batteries. Until a home owner sues because the car burned their home down, at least.
One thing that *might* be helpful is to raise the height of the high voltage terminals. So it takes quite the flood to cover the super high terminals.
