Been looking for a auto detailers cart. YT and the interwebs mostly return indoor/ detail shop carts, which do look pretty okay btw. I have to work in my carport on a concrete pad because no garage space. I'd have to drag the cart's caster wheels over gravel to the carport though, not good. Trying to save steps and my back. Detailed three vehicles this fall, it got pretty old.
I keep coming back to this type convertible hand truck to build from:
Bought one over 20 years ago at the farm store, almost identical to the HF model shown. Replaced the pneumatic tires with semi-pneumatics after widening the axle.
I'd like the cart to hold one or two 5 gallon wash buckets. A rack for cleaning chemicals, compounds, MF applicators and towels, brushes, PC DA polisher etc. Beer holder optional.
Doesn't have to be all-in-one. Probably convertible between wash buckets and chemicals/ towels etc be moar better. Plywood laid flat on horizontal tubes for bucket holder would be 12-14" off the ground. Second tier for everything else oughta be 36" or so? Bucket dollies have their place but not necessarily here.
I like this hand truck, at the end of the day it can be stored configured vertical for a smaller footprint in the garage.
Most detail shop carts have molded in plastic shelves/ holders for bottles. I can't duplicate that. Maybe plywood?
This could also double as an outdoor tool cart.
Whattya got?
edit: make this add on/ modular so to say so the hand truck can be added onto per usage vs dedicated detail/ tool cart.
