You guys know everything.  Got this new in the (water damaged) box with no identification other then “pyrex lab equipment”  box no newer than 80’s.  

glass(obviously) about 10” tall without lid and 14” across.  Precision machined sealing surface on both sides and came with a tube if sealing grease.  

So what is this for and does anyone need it?  My best idea so far is make a terrarium

It's a non-vacuum desiccator.  It's used to keep water-reactive material dry or to dry things out.  Yours is missing the plate that rests on those raised bosses inside.  You put desiccant in the lower part.

I believe we have the plate still, it’s white and has a bunch of holes in it

Looks like a glass dutch oven to me.  You sure it's not for making casseroles? :)
