I had to get a rental car sorted out for my upcoming US emigration road trip (landing in San Francisco, meet up with friends in the Bay Area before going up to Tahoe for a job interview and on to Las Vegas from there). Normally I'd just book a regular Mustang with Hertz (hey, I like them, even the V6, OK?) but of course they're not available for one-way rentals; the only choice offered were a bunch of blandmobiles. I chose the least bland of them that I thought I might want to try out...
We'll now be making this trip in a ... Toyota Pious, err, Prius. So if they mention on the evening news that a Prius with a stuck throttle[1] ended up in Lake Tahoe, check if the driver looks like a GRM subscriber.
It's a sorry state of affairs if the most interesting regular vehicle you can find on offer is a Prius, though.
[1] Guess what, I'll make sure I know how to get it into neutral as I know that coasting around in neutral at 90mph will not result in the car immediately flipping over.
