Bell's Oberon is solid. If i can't decide what i want to drink, that's what i drink.

Try their Cherry Stout if you're into fruit beers.

I went to this bar/brewery in town and tried one of theirs beers, it was some sort of chili beer. One of the worst beers I have ever had. It was not subtle.

Grain Belt Nordeast is my swill of choice. I have a plethora of bottles above my cabinet I need to write reviews on once I get a chance. Ima make em into glasses too because they look cool. Probably my favorites (that I remember) were the Stone Russian Imperial and my local Flat Earth Cygnus X1. Both were amazing.

If you are a Grain Belt drinker, try some of Schell's other offerings. (Schell's owns and produces the Grain Belt brand, and it is all produced in the same facility.) Firebrick Red is a really excellent all-around beer. One of my prime examples of a great gateway beer to offer to people like in the original example who want something with some character, but that is easily palatable to people who are used to macro lager.

Yeah, I keep meaning to buy a thing of Schells when I'm at the booze store (i'm fairly well versed in my local offerings.... I get bored easily and start reading) and then I get ADD and buy something completely different. I can't tell you how many times I've walked in for a case of beer and come out with two bottles of whiskey instead, or the time I drove to Wisconsin for beer and came back with Rum I could have bought two blocks away. It happens.

Within 30-minutes of my arrival on my barstool, I'very watched 4 different people perform a similar stupid-human routine. They all walked in, scanned the various taps, and started asking questions about the available "non-mainstream" selections. Take a sample sip of one, and "no, that's too dark". Next sample is "too hoppy"... Or "too wheaty"... After each of these individuals completed their taste-tests, their final decisions were... Two ordered Bud-Light drafts, one a Miller Light draft, and the fourth decided on a Natural Light bottle. Granted, I am pretty boring when it comes to my taste in beer, but I don't act like a "connoisseur", and then order my usual cheap beer 10 minutes later. Maybe this bothers me more than it should... 》》》RANT OFF《《《
I just laugh at those people and drink my 30 weight Guinness
Guinness is a LIGHT beer. Seriously. Why do you think it floats on top of Harp in a half-and-half. It's got a pretty bland flavor profile as well. Murphy's is a far superior Irish stout.

I understand that, murphys is a good beer, it isnt readily available on tap or anything at very many eateries either. Which is why I mostly drink guinness. I did try their black lager a few weeks ago and was pleasantly surprise at how good I found it was. Same goes with Coors prohibition beer that they've come out with recently.

Just had Grainbelt for the first time, the original Lager and the Nordeaster. The Nordeaster was a little too sweet/malty for me, but a very drinkable beer; the original was one that I can't say a lot of good about--I liked it quite a bit, but it is just a very drinkable beer. If I lived in MN, it would likely be in my fridge all the time.

Now if only I could find Okocimm anywhere other than the city of Chicago...

I love Huntsville for beer. We are now up to 7 breweries.

Old Black Bear.
Yellowhammer.
Straight to Ale.
Blue Pants.
Rocket Republic.
Brew Stooges.
Below the Radar (brew pub).

I love them all except for Blue Pants (too hoppy). But 7 breweries for a town of 400000 (metro) isn't too bad and I can find them about 80% of the places around town that serve beer.

I'll agree with most of the comments here regarding IPAs.........the heavy metal of beers. Hehehehe.

I was quite surprised to find an IPL recently on a trip up to Post Falls, ID. Now that was tasty!!!

As far as what tickles the ol taste buds lately, it's those darn beers outta Belgium. Stuff like Delerium Tremens, Duvel, Gulden Draak, Privaat.

Izzit 5:00 yet?????

I actually prefer 16 Mile pretty solidly over anything Dogfish Head brews; they're just not as famous. Luckily they recently bought out a restaurant in my town and opened up a branch here.

Is it bad that I'd drink an ice-cold Budweiser over nearly any other beer?

Budweiser isn't beer.

It's made with rice.

do you like Leinenkugel's Summer Shandy? Or does SWMBO? Try to find Schell Shocked. Grapefruit beer. A bit on the sweet side but not bad. Light and refreshing.

we were just up in MN and WI a couple weeks ago went to Schells and Leinenkugels breweries. I can buy Leine's here in VA but not Schells.

Sooooooooo would anybody be interested in a GRM Beer Trade group? You say what you have access to, and people can offer what they have in trade? Helps reduce the regionalism of local breweries.

I have a goal of trying 200 new beers each year, so the ability to branch out is nice to have. I've had 149 new beers this year. Having the tally forces me to always be trying something new.

Are there any unforseen legal issues for a regular person shipping alcohol? I know a person isnt supposed to ship ciggarettes, a friend got in trouble for that last year sending cartons to his mother in law who lives in NY

Someone mentioned a Couple pages back they were going to be in Denver.. As an IPA fan My favorite Denver Beer was 90 shilling. Loved it...

I don't drink that much beer... When i do I want something good... so I tend to skip drinking Hamms with the neighbor and instead my go to beer this Summer is Free State Stormchaser...

And I have seen what that rocky mountain stream looks like by the time it makes it to the brewery... No thanks..
