Carful on what you call a sandwich guys, I seem to recall a legal thing a couple of years ago where a Subway franchise owner tried suing his landlord over the no completion clause for his lease in a strip mall. They had allowed a Mr. Pita I think it was to open up a couple of doors down. The court found that a Pita roll up was not a sandwich.
Google is failing me on that one, but I’m sure I heard it on NPR so it has to be more true than the internet.
HiTempguy wrote: If that's the case, my time on GRM will be significantly curtailed. Especially because the GRM section is about 1 million times more boring than it used to be. I'd hazard a guess that your site views will decrease dramatically, which sort of defeats the purpose of companies wanting to advertise. Significantly worse goes on @ forums like NASIOC, and they have TONS of vendors/advertisers. I still enjoy the people, but man, this sucks. You learn a lot. Why not just annoint a couple of the unwashed masses off the forum as mods? Thats basically the defacto standard for forums...
They have already.
Nobody is learning anything from those threads other than the realization that they might like other forums with an "ignore" feature quite a bit better.
I used to read 80% of the off-topic threads here. Now i read maybe... 10%.
The political bullE36 M3, posturing, yelling competitions, etc... all SERIOUSLY berkeleying suck here.
I assure you i can yell louder than anyone on this forum, but i'm mature enough to not get into it, especially when the owners of the site have expressed their displeasure at it multiple times.
The only people who have a problem with curtailing the political dick-waving threads are the people who ARE the problem. I'd give 5:1 odds that if a poll was taken seeing what percentage of the forum population wanted to see the political threads go away, it would be WELL north of 60%.

I didn't want to post that but protocol says that I must post a reference image from Super Troopers whenever that word appears and I have grown tired of the same old captioned pistol whip image.
Please stop using that word. I can't possibly keep up with the demands of the whole internet.

and youre right, and Im pretty sure Ive been riding the borderline between debater and troll, so I guess Im taking this as my final warning

I'm in, I vote for the ban

Do you have some sort of SUPER CAPS LOCK font or something?

Give me a catfish po'boy. Flounder sucks.
I HIGHLY doubt anyone is keeping a close eye on you. It's the constant repeat offenders that are on their radar. (I approve.) It's not the guys that maybe once in a while have a lapse in judgement.

I can do better than that...

There will be a Super Troopers 2 coming out soon with a new word to hotlink with. Unfortunately, we all know squeals of great movies never work (why are the street lights on midday but they weren't at night?) and therefore no one will actually want to remember it let alone praise it via hotlink.
The Libya thread was a classic example of a Floundered thread. The discussion was not really political (in a US sense) until some asshat HAD to bring up elected officials.
I agree with the ban ESPECIALLY for the next few months.
Any discussion that involves (or devolves to) discussing political parties, or any elected official is just not going to end well (and is ultimately pointless anyway).

Honestly, due to this reponse, I'd probably have called GRM and cancelled my subscription right now. However, because it is a 10 year, it would be a significant waste of my money. You probably wouldn't care, as it probably costs you money. And while I have loved GRM for ages, had great conversations about the magazine with many people in person, I can also live without it.
Thanks for helping with that decision, where's my "that was easy button".?
It's OK with me if you ban the political threads here. This is a car forum. There are lots of other places on the internet where people can go and abuse each other ad-infinitum over differing political beliefs. Where else can you go to talk about megasquirts, cheap project cars and Geo Metro engine swaps.

wow... some has a
and it's Wednesday!
wondering on careful ground here......would suggest another subforum...but..no. This is car forum, not politics. I just stay out of them. Just like shiny happy people, everyone has an opinion.

Do we need a code word like Canoe for political threads so they can be shut down ASAP. Say Jefferson, a presedentail name that's not likely to come up too often unlike Lincoln, Adams etc?
You'll need to log in to post.
