I missed you guys.
Glad to know this place hasn't changed.
Sorry for being a bit of an e-penis last year. I got a bit wrapped around the axle and so I decided the best thing to do was just quite for a while.
I've been a member of this board for over 10 years so, I couldn't stay away too long.
Can we be friends? I'll bring the Zima.
Did you come back because you were afraid to drop out of the top-ten dorks?

Isn't that a contradiction?

Zima?
NO. Just no.
I'd rather have Crystal Gravy
Is coming back this close to a presidential election and staying calm going to be an easy thing?

You'll have to wait to find out.
But I can guarantee you having two kids and the new job doesn't allow for tons of folly.. Gym at 4:30am and eating dinner at 9. It's not easy keeping it all together with a one earner family in Connecticut, but I've proven its possible in this state with its unbelieveable overpriced housing market
If you want to argue, the best I'm going to be able to do is PM you my Blackberry number...

Glad you're back.
So I bought a house. A crappy(just because I dislike raised ranches) raised ranch on 1.2 acres that backs up to a swamp. I got a good deal because it has electric resistance baseboard and the crappy economy. I installed a pellet stove so the heat issue is solved.
At closing the seller says, "There is a generator in the garage, it comes with the house. It is fully wired with a transfer switch outside. I can't get it to start." (6500 Watt Honda.. Nice genny). I think great, I like tinkering with stuff.
Then... 2 days after moving into the house. Alfred comes and I get holes in the roof and 9 days without electricity. Luckily, I was able to get the genny to someone who could fix it. It had stuck brushes in the starter and it had no pull cord. My tools were still packed from the move. Ugh.

Anyway, We've been slowly recovering. Half the roof was covered by the insurance company. Luckily it was the front half so the house dosen't look goofy from the street.
The good part is that I now have a garage. Due to an PO's expansion of the master, One side of the garage is double length with a work bench and storage room built in. I also have two sheds, one has water and power run to it.
So despite the craziness... I'm still here.
Super Bonus is that I learned how to cut down trees and am now deforesting the backyard with the help of a friend and his boys (Stihl 029 Super and 365xp Husky).. Woo Ha!
Did the insurance company have a good reason for not covering all of the roof? covering half seems kinda sketchy, regardless of how long you've owned the place, especially if there was nothing in the home inspection about a weak roof.
DOOD! Welcome back!
WTF is it with you, trees and roofs?
A lot has happened in my life, too. Check your PMs.

Yeah, the insurance company is only obligated to restore those areas that are damaged. The front and side elevations were damaged, so they were replaced. The restoration crew told us horror stories of cheaper insurance companies (read: the big ones on TV all the time) that only replace roofs only sheet of plywood at a time.
This is the 2nd house I have owned and the 2nd house I have had walloped with a tree. I'm surprised someone will still insure me. Gotta love USAA.
