As of last Friday, my awesome girlfriend has become my Fiance! She's into cars, trucks, racing, and having a good time. I gave her a ring a week ago today and her desire is to get married in Vegas, in a blood red dress, on St. Patrick's Day 2017 (March 17). I have no desire for a big, fancy, traditional, or expensive wedding, so her plan sounds wonderful to me.

I've got a group of probably 6-8 friends who will be able to fly out and join us for the wedding. She has a similar number. We plan to fly out on a Thursday and do the wedding right away on the Friday. then the rest of the weekend will be a free-for-all. My first question is, What kind of things should I try to plan for the group while out there? My friends are mostly party animals, so hitting the casinos, bars, and clubs would be cool, but I'd like to maybe throw something unique into the mix. Any suggestions?

My second question is, Any good bachelor party suggestions? My best friend is trying to talk me into flying to Bangkok for some hooliganism. Its enticing, but sounds expensive and high potential for regrettable activities. One of the recent bachelor parties I attended was a houseboat adventure down in the FL keys for a loong weekend. That type of outdoorsy adventure is lots of fun to me. I'm thinking of a road trip in an RV to some kind of a car race or similar event early in 2017. Any input is appreciated!

Can't you take a Lambo out on the track in Vegas for not too much money?

Here's my vote for your bachelor shenanigans:

Take the money everyone would have spent on a trip to Thailand, spend it on plane tickets to city of your choice which is at least 500 miles from Vegas. Keep $500 each for the next part.

Everybody gets on craigslist and buys a car.

Race to the wedding.

Honestly, one of the most fun things to do in Vegas is see a Cirque Du Soleil show. I've been to Vegas about 7 or 8 times and it's still my favorite thing there, next to the open container laws that allow you to walk around everywhere while drinking.

Suits. It needs to be done in suits. Even if they're E36 M3ty resale shop suits. You get treated differently when rolling through Vegas in a suit. Especially 13 of you, or me as I remember.

SWMBO and I got married in Vegas. Sent a blast email to our friends about two weeks beforehand and said if they could make it, they're welcome to join us.

Remember, you'll have to take out time to get your Nevada marriage license. Doesn't take a long time, but really bad if you forget it.

We were married at "The Little Chapel of the Flowers". Key (back then) for them was they provided live internet feeds of weddings. My company at the time fired it up on the projector in a conference room and got to watch it live (as did anyone who couldn't make it). I'm sure all the chapels offer it now. Start looking for them now, though. We really wanted to get married by an Elvis justice of the peace, but most were booked up 6 months in advance. If you find something unique or weird you want to do for the wedding, chances are you've got to book in advance.

Make sure to let the airline (or hell, everyone) know you're going to Vegas to get married. SWA gave us a bottle of champagne on the flight there and the hotel bumped us to a nicer room.

I'll second something car related. Since you like the outdoors, maybe a ski trip to someplace more out of the way? Or an Alaskan adventure? I dunno.

If I were getting hitched in Vegas, somewhere during my stay would be some Elvis related activities.

Hmmm...March is a great time to be in the desert. North Rim will still be closed, though.

Maybe road trip (in rented RV) to Sedona and rent ATV/Side-by-sides for a few days with your buddies?

Buy an old Cadillac. Hack off the mufflers and install a mini-spool. Lower it as far as feasible. Rattle can it flat black. Cannonball to the wedding with six people on board. Use it as the wedding car. .

You can rent a houseboat in Lake powell, rent dune buggies, there are a few shooting ranges that rent full auto ar15's etc.

Death valley is about a 3hr drive and worth it in every way. Very straight roads where a rented elantra starts floating around at 105. Can rent an rv for it.

There's a ski resort nearby and mount charleston is a very nice change. Red rock canyon just west of lv is a good hike and as nice add the road to it is there is a lot of police presence. There's a cheesy but nice western style little resort on that road.

I try to avoid being on the strip too much but there are good restaurants. Some good old restaurants off the strip. Surprising amount of cuban restaurants around.

Good luck.

And congratulations.

Thanks for the suggestions! The bachelor party will probably not be in Vegas, but somewhere in the southeast US.

Old Vegas. Fremont all night baby.

Outdoor adventure? The last outdoor adventure I had was trying to walk to the In N Out burger but finding there was a highway in the way. After day 3 in Vegas, this was a 6 hour outdoor adventure in itself.

Grand Canyon isn't too far away. I did that drive after Vegas before. Get a day to sober up and then head out. If you add a couple days to your trip and you two fly back from Phoenix it would be worth it.

Congratulations!

So we have a new development here. My boys want to meet up in Cali a few days before the wedding and recreate the Fear and Loathing trip in a E36 M3ty drop top barge for the bachelor party. This could get interesting.
