I'm packing up for my move across the country and wanted to seal up my liquor bottles so I can ship them without spillage, so I reached for the bottle of Plasti Dip I have laying around. After sealing the first one, I began to wonder if it was such a good idea.
Standard wood-topped corks in glass bottles, dip slathered over the top. My kitchen now stinks like Plasti Dip, will my tequila now taste that bad too?
shoulda bought another bottle to test that idea out on..... but the results may be skewed as the bottle of tequila empties and you just don't care anymore....
Do what we do in the chemical business to ship samples by UPS - wrap the joint between bottle and top with a couple layers of white 3M electrical tape. This works great for sealing on crew tops, but should be pretty effective for cork type as well. Only use 3M though, no knock offs.
Based on the title, I thought we were revisiting the bedliner/hootus incident.

Done. Black no-name electrical tape used, just like you said.
And yes, the title is intentionally misleading.
If you need to get rid of the smell just fry up some bacon; it has magical anti-bad smell properties.
Bacon makes everything better. You know what makes bacon better?
More bacon.

So the dip is touching the spirits? I can't imagine that helping the flavor any lol.
Pick up some mason jars or use beeswax instead

No, all bottles have been opened and the corks are well above the liquid level. The Plasti Dip is on the outside, essentially in lieu of a wax dip.

Taking a break while Plastidiping the rally wheels, I thought this would be relevant. I guess I need some tequila now.

Reposado tequila, aged in cognac barrels. It's worth shipping the last 3" across the country, trust me.
