Wait, there are car threads on here? Cool.

Forums need traffic to stay alive. Car forums almost always fade to nothing if there isn't an active off-topic forum. I bought my 10 year subscription mostly to help support the forum, as I'm sure others have done. I still enjoy the magazine, but it's usually not as interesting as it was 10 years ago when I'd read it while working at Winn Dixie.
The car forums I frequent are the ones with lots of car stuff. The ones that become overtly off-topic, I leave. I don't agree that car forums "almost always fade to nothing" - my experience has been the opposite.
I love the political threads on GRM because it is mind-bogglingly FASCINATING to see into the minds of Americans, especially in ones that A) So strongly believe in their cause and B) Typically are extremely well spoken/written
Lots of the people who post are well educated in general, and know how to prove/explain a point. Yes, sometimes it gets to name calling/immature behavior, but I typically find that happens when the frustration of dealing with someone who only repeats what they already said and doesn't debate bubbles to the surface (and this is usually by the less intelligent folks posting).
If GRM has interesting threads, I read them. Lately, the car section has been boring as sin besides for some interesting projects. I really, REALLY hate seeing the front page filled with mundane topics (how do I fix this) unless it is oddball. Other than that, I want grassroots MOTORSPORTS to be the main forum.
