Note that this clip contains very offense language. Think about the children, okay?

(Not listening to this since I'm at work)

I really don't like swearing. Not because it is unpleasant to listen to or it offends me, but because when it is used with regularity it loses its meaning. If I say a swear, it is because I either saw something out of the ordinary, or I am extremely pissed/upset/frustrated.

It is one of the things that annoys me about my fiance's family. They swear, a lot, and they yell, a lot. It doesn't indicate any mood, but I'm putting up my defenses because my natural instinct is that something is wrong.

In my opinion, someone that drops the f-bomb with regularity may be well-educated, but is certainly not classy or intelligent. I once heard someone say "profanity is for those that are not intelligent enough to express themselves otherwise." I believe that.

My thought as well. If I hit my thumb with a hammer, I'm going to swear up a storm but I'm pretty mild otherwise.

Berkeley is the salt and pepper of language.

Also people who curse frequently tend to be more honest as well.

One of the reasons I fell in love with my wife is because she looks like she should be an advanced calculus TA and occasionally swears like a sailor. It's berkeleying hilarious

My wife and I tend to keep coarse language to a minimum. We're ok with using it as a expressions "i'll be damned" or "wellll sheeeeit" but we like using the most appropriate language possible.

Mostly because when I'm working on vehicles I swear enough to make up for the lack of the rest of the time. Every bolt on my car tends to be called "a little bitch" once or twice its life.

Pretty sure that title is an oxymoron.

Since I know what the F-bomb sounds like, and there are kids in the house, I skipped the video.

My first word was E36 M3 (and not the car).. that was how my mom learned she used that word way too much

As for me.. I am probably the only one on our crew who does not swear up a storm. I tend to save my bombs for when I really need them. Like said above, I think using swear words all the time tends to cheapen their impact. My co-workers, family, and friends all know something is very wrong when I say anything worse than E36 M3

I think swearing has its time or place, usually in a secluded/private setting. But swearing is certainly not classy, I find it extremely unattractive in a woman.

disagree extremely with your assessment. however, people who do curse with regularity and around everyone children included tend to lack the education and intelligence to otherwise express themselves. certain people use those words as attention getters or in correct situations, like "berkeley!" when you squash your finger attempting to fight a harbor freight universal joint press

Don't get me wrong, I've cussed plenty. In fact, there was a time at the office (decades ago, when I actually worked) when the owner's son worked there, and I'll be damned if I eventually wasn't saying berkeley this and berkeley that as often as he was. And that's kind of the point. If you do it often, it becomes a habit, and you don't think much of it. But I think it shows a severe lack of shall we say, good taste, when one swears in front of people who don't, or women, or employers (unless they cuss more than you do) or children. That last one is a peeve of mine. Parents who think nothing of dropping every cuss word known to man in front of their kids. Says a lot about who you are when your 6 year old offspring cusses at school. Trust me, it isn't cute. Really, it boils down to respect for others, and sadly, not many parents are teaching their kids about that anymore.
