I've stitched my own minor flesh wounds closed using a sewing needle and thread on more than one occasion and I made my own temporary molar to get through the two month wait for dental insurance to kick in after an overly aggressive chomp shattered my tooth while attempting to best a particularly a stubborn lemon Tootsie Roll.
What's this have to do with the tread title? Not much really, but it is a way to say that I like to DIY whenever I can, however I do throw in the towel occasionally. Generally what I lack in skill I make up for with over confidence. One area I've never felt comfortable with is advanced electronic circuitry. I've easily resurrected every Lucas-equipped car I've owned and some I didn't and I've designed and wired countless residential and commercial AC circuits and bunches of complex ambient air monitoring equipment for Big Brother.
Then I bought a late 70s Fender Twin Reverb guitar amp that was previously worked on. "Fatality!"
If you're into that sort of stuff or would like to learn, you won't find a better source of information than Uncle Doug on YouTube. I can't say enough nice things about him. He's brilliant and a brilliant teacher. He's also a car guy. And he's also hilariously deadpan.
He repaired my extremely broken amp and here is the video:
