Why do you idiots think it's OK to talk to me about your drug use? I'm your berkeleyING boss!

Your wonderfully triumphant stories of how you "got dat bitch fo $75 and a pack of cigarettes when she left her purse in da ride at da sto" are not amusing nor is it appropriate.

It's not a berkeleying contest to see how many times you can get your picture in the just busted papers. Why do you feel the need to brag about the list of charges being so long they couldn't fit another picture in under you?!

Why the berkeley are you bragging to me about stealing E36 M3! Makes me real comfortable having you around my E36 M3 and my customers E36 M3!

STOP berkeleyING CUSSING AROUND THE CUSTOMERS!

When you say this dumb E36 M3 and I look at you like your a berkeleying idiot it's BECAUSE YOUR A berkeleyING IDIOT!

Stop calling me nigga, you're berkeleying white and so am I!

Nothing has scared me more for the future of humanity than when you told me "Yup, dat bitch tode me she havin my baby, Imma have dis lil nigga smoken weed by the time he be seven years old ya heard me" I'm filled with nothing but remorse for the life this child is going to live.

It's not OK to lock your girlfriend in a room because she didn't fix you dinner. It's not OK to hit her. Why the berkeley do you keep telling me this E36 M3?!

I'm not intimidated by your stories of beating that guy with a baseball bat. I'm not intimidated by your brother being in prison for life, I wish you were.

UGH!

Unfortuanetly, that seems to be the real world if you employ 90% of the people out there. I run understaffed all year round because I think the "right" person at some point in the future is better than the "right now" person.

The boss is a softy and believes in second chances. Each one of these guys taken individually can be reasonable and are capable of learning. Get 'em together in a group and it's like a stupidity contest. Plus they all have to be off once a month to visit their PO or go to court or both. It just gets old listening to crap like that all day long. I feel my IQ dropping just listening to them talk. It also makes me wonder how police officers who deal with these idiots all day long do it. My hats off to them.

Nigga, if the precedent has been set that the stories and crap will be tolerated to any degree, it will be hard to reverse the trend at this stage of the game. Good luck!

As someone that's learning how to manage a hotel, this seems to be the norm. Doing drugs on your time, no problem. Bringing drugs and girlfriend drama to work, even as conversation, should at least be addressed. Bring drugs or talk about doing illegal things, well, the local LEOs might be interested in your story.

People are idiots. People that think it's okay to do E36 M3 like this and talk about it at work are certainly not quite ready for the real world.

These "conversations" usually happen in the truck on the way to or from the job between themselves. I'm just listening in from the front seat hence internal dialog. I like it when we drive two hours to get to a job because they usually sleep. They are all hard workers and with the exception of cussing behave themselves on the job, for the most part. I don't think any of them have been here more than a month. They usually don't last long.

One thing I learned in my time in management. I don't give a E36 M3 what you did the night before. I don't care what you do after you leave my employ. While you're on my clock you're expected to follow the rules and bust your ass. Piss and moan or bring personal drama on my clock, and I WILL punish you. I had a part timer that got to clean the work bathroom after a taco bell bender because he wanted to bitch about his hangover and not do his job. He was the only one that ever made that mistake.

Personally, I'd do my damndest to ignore it. Either that, or do what you can to redirect the conversation. Especially when whitey's tryin' to act hood.

Figures. We have construction workers often at our hotel when they're working shutdown at the power plants. I've had to clean up after some of those guys. Those are the guys that aren't there for the next round of work.

Holy E36 M3, it's like you're in my head.

What I don't understand is why people don't seem to understand that you're there to work. Do what has to be done, make the company money, take home your share as a paycheck, rinse and repeat. If you're bitching about a hangover, you're not making the company money. Get over it and do what you're being paid to do!

Manage a food service joint in a college town, my employees learned real quick I don't want to hear about hangovers or benders. Whether they be legal or not. One guy had the nerve to try and call in sick due to a hangover, told him to get to work or start looking for another job. When he showed up I made sure I dropped the biggest stainless mixing bowl we had full of utensils on the tile floor near him, then had him clean the grease trap. After he emptied the trap, and his stomach I bought him a gatorade and a couple of alieve. Added to it that the next time would be far worse and made sure the rest of the crew knew what was up, never had another problem with it.

Your time is your time, when you're scheduled to be at work, you are on my time, and you had better be there or have one hell of a good reason not to be. Sick? Show up, and unless you make a habit out of begging off 99% of the time you will be out of there shortly. Need time off for something? The schedule is made for the semester, you know you need to find someone to cover your shift or get with me to give it up. I'm not a hard ass and if something unexpected came up, I can usually work around it.

Had a kid that wanted to quit after working for me for 8 months, asked him why? He told me his grades were slipping and if he didn't get it straight mom and dad were cutting him off. He told me he was going to be looking for work and wanted to make sure he left on a good note for the reference. I told him unless he's lying to me and just thought I was an ass and didn't want to work for me, for him to look at his schedule, and figure out where he needed the free time we would work it out. I didn't want to go through the hassle of hiring and training another possible idiot that wouldn't last three weeks. The kid always showed up for his shift, and worked with no issues. I didn't want to possibly lose a good employee.

Moral is, if you've got craptastic employees, look at management. That's where the line starts and stops. When I left that place it hurt, 90% of my employees had been with me more than a year, most two or more. The handful that were "short-timers" were freshman or sophomore students, and I had two couples that had met while working for me. One of those is now married. Good luck
