So, I noticed some drug sales activity in the neighboring lot, it’s an off the street behind the bushes kinda thing but I have a clear view of it all. It’s a nice middle class neighborhood, still one of the nicer ones in town as most people will say. The shady characters/ vehicles hangin’ around has caused my creep factor to rise dramatically in the last week ... and I’m a pretty easy goin’ guy. I’d have absolutely no problem turning in suspicious activity or suspected drug sales to the local PD. The problem is I know the girl who is selling…. ok, to be correct ‘suspected of.’

She’s a 23 y/o gal that I befriended who worked at a local store which her uncle owns. I think she may have been fired given the animosity I see when I ask about her there but no one will say anything more, it’s just stern berkeleying ice cold. She now lives a few doors up from me, we wave but haven’t spoken since the store and given the recent circumstances I don’t feel the need to reconnect.

I’d hate to get this particular kid in trouble but feel someone needs to intervene for the neighborhoods sake and hers. It’d be reasonable to think her family and friends should have tried anyway. I really like this gal, nice lookin’ n all… and if I was 20 yrs younger… well, y’all know that answer… But the neighborhood don’t need this E36 M3.

and FWIW , I have no doubt she’s dealin’.

What would GRM do?

Turn her in. Fast.

You are enabling her to destroy her life if you pretend she is better off with you looking the other way.

She may hate you for it. So what? If you don't, her ruin will be partly your fault.

Do what's right.

BTW, she won't remain nice lookin if she keeps in the lifestyle. She will rapidly become a used up nasty tramp addict.

If she was your daughter would you let her continue to deal?

Nip it in the bud. (no pun)

Even if she's just dealing weed, then it should be well-behind closed doors.

Make ABSOLUTELY 100% SURE you know who it is before you get the police involved, and make sure she's not going to stop voluntarily. The law will berkeley up someone's life over a call like that even if they're completely innocent. Talk to her first, ask her flat out if she's doing it and tell her to stop if she admits it. Say you've got all your neighbours behind you (or better yet have all your neighbours behind you) and tell her you don't want to escalate it to legal action, but you have to protect your own turf... Unless she's some kind of hardened crook there's a good chance she doesn't want a record and will stop if she thinks she's at risk.

No need to be 20 yrs younger...I bet she will sell "it" to you now.
You don't need that and your neighborhood does not need that and her family does not need that.
Do what you can as fast as you can.

It appears to be obvious what's going on. Meet with your neighbors daily for a week or so and if the evidence becomes overwhelming, you have no choice but to take action.

I speak from experience. Right across from my house is a 6 ft. chain link fence and on the other side is a housing developement that is slowly changing hands and there are many rental houses there now. About 3 years ago the traffic to the end of the lane got very heavy, night and day. The clincher was one night when my wife came home late and called me to come escort her into the house because there were two guys talking on cell phones standing on the street in front of our property. I didn't hesitate to call the cops. I told the neighbors about it and they too began to call them when the obvious was occuring. The cops didn't run in and do a house search. They began to make very frequent trips to the end of the land and on the street in front of the house. Within 3 weeks they converged on the house and it was over. Since then, no more traffic and no evidence of a re-occurence.

Cuttin' grass this afternoon n here she comes. I thought perfect opportunity to run into her and maybe get a word in but it was obvious she went outta her way to avoid me. Not that I would ask her... is it only weed?.. or is it crack or meth? And dammit she almost put this deal right under my nose, I was w/ in 30' at one point and no eye contact? Is she just gettin' lazy or plain berkeleyin' dumb?

Current thought is:

1) send anonymous letter to uncle at store: your niece is dealing berkeleying drugs, do something about it NOW... before she gets busted.

2) anonymous letter to PD of suspected drug dealing activity. Maybe added patrol presence will scare her enough to rethink it all

I'm not ready to drop da bomb on this girl just yet.. that's in #3 and #4 options. I hope family or a good scare can sort it out

I don't agree. Many communities have anti-drug law enforcement programs most of which people don't know exist. They will make sure first, but It would help if you explain to the detective you speak with that you are not sure its her. They will likely take your word. They have no want to hurt innocent people.

Don't intervene on your own or with anyone else for that sake. Ive mentioned many times that I work in a rough area and there are major drug transactions going on in the area. I have LEO friends who have driven with millions in drugs in the back seats of their cars. I've seen what happens when people try to get between some people and they money they make and many of them don't survive.

Then again you could just take advantage of it and stand outside with a net on a windy day. Partners of mine have found $100 bills on the fence lines of the compound.

Be careful and good luck.

Call the cops. They'll do the investigation and figure out if this person is in fact dealing drugs. Don't talk to her.

Go and talk to the police, tell them what you're seeing and let them deal with it. She's a big girl and obviously knows the potential consequences of selling drugs. If she's not worried about screwing up her life, why are you so worried about it? Worry about yourself, your family and your property first, then worry about saving the drug dealers from themselves.

Don't bother talking to her uncle. I'm willing to bet that they caught her selling drugs out of the store and that's why she got fired, and that's why they don't want to talk about her.

Plus whatever on NOT getting between this girl and the law. You may feel it is being better to her, bit it is not. It won't do her any good, and it could do YOU a great deal of harm.

How many deals do you think she has made in the couple of days since you started this thread? How about since you first became aware of her activity? Perhaps she's hooked a couple more kids on Meth. Perhaps someone has gotten hurt.

CALL THE POLICE.

If you are correct, you are aiding a drug dealer by not making the call.

It's THEIR job to sort out the details, NOT YOURS.

What's holding you back?

Write down plates and descriptions of cars, when the activity is taking place, and bring it to the cops. The more they have, the more they can do. She's only avoiding you because she doesn't want to know something. If it's the bud, they'll give her a ticket and a slap on the wrist. Anything else, she needs to get out now for her sake and your sake and everyones' sake before it gets baaaad.

Yep-criminal charges screw you now and forever in this country. She is most likely dealing more than weed, but if OP does have some desire to "try to help her get her life back together", law enforcement has no interest.

Fwiw: Not trying to tell you what to do either way, but if this 'slap on the wrist' BS factors into the equation, lemme paint a picture:

Misdemeanor pot violation (i.e. - a joint) in florida =

Cops try to get you to do 'undercover buys' because it'll 'look good at your hearing.'

If you refuse:

1 year probation, $500 fine, 40 hours 'community service' (washing cop cars - it's good for the community,) "outpatient drug rehab." Rehab center greases the right wheels to get the contract, has an endless supply of pot smokers who have to pay $25 dollars every berkeleying 2 weeks to watch movies on how 'drugs r bad', mmmkay. Mandatory AA meetings once a month so you, the guy who smoked a joint, can listen to a bunch of alcoholic wife beaters tell you 'you're no better'n them.' Piss tests (which you have to pay for,) and a two hour long, $50, mandatory for all 'drug offenders' AIDS awareness class, cuz, you know, you might get AIDS from smoking pot. Did I mention you have to pay $25 every time you go to probation? That does not go toward your fines, btw.

Total revenue for the state/the contractors who licked the right holes, assuming you follow ALL the rules, and show up on time for every BS thing they tell you to so you can get off probation in six months (most don't) Over a thousand bucks a crack.

Lesson: smoke pot at home and only f*ck with dealers who come to you.
