Had my first interview today since being laid off almost 3 weeks ago. I actually started talking to the GM last month before I was laid off, www.pei.org is the company. Seemed like a good interview, ran 90 minutes instead of 60, took me around to meet everyone, walked across the street to see the new building that is almost completed.

Have another interview with a different company this afternoon, although this one is a contract job.

Thanks guys, I felt like it was a good sign when right before I left he told me to make sure and call him if I got another offer.

He said it would take awhile to get things moving since he is traveling a but the next month.

Thoughts?

Extended interview, Showed around and told to call if you get another offer? Sounds promising!

Sounds like the position is still being debated internally. Hope it works out for you but I would keep looking.

Keep looking, but it sounds promising. I would think that more likely than the position being debated internally is that HR may have told them to hold off on hiring until a certain date because they can hold off benefits for longer. I'm pretty sure that is what happened with me, I would have had an extra 2 days of vacation and gotten a 401k match 12 months earlier had I been hired 12 days earlier.

They are also about to move back into their new building.

I'm definitely still looking but cautiously optimistic.

The 2nd interview, I coukd probably have the job, but I think it would be a huge step back, big pay cut, contract no benes, no opportunity to move forward or advance, etc.

The wife had a two hour interview after a 45 minute phone interview. Everything sounded great and she felt it went really well, they said she would know something by the end of the week. She was very excited. She called back a week and a half later and they said nobody impressed them in the first round of interviews and they were still accepting applications. I'm thinking what the berkeley was with the two hour interview then? Anyway she found an even more promising position less than a week later and starts Monday.

Long story short I wouldn't stop looking until you get conformation. But it does sound promising and best of luck

This.

However, I know when I was hired on at State Farm out of college. The first interview was in january, 2nd/3rd in February, then I was told I had the job on my Birthday in march...............start date was 2 months later in May.
