I know there are some more IT savvy folks than me in this group......
My IPhone 13 will no longer work for the "hold near reader" thing at event venues for tickets. The last few times at PNC Area (Hurricanes) and last night at Cameron (Duke Battle of the Blues, a bucket list sporting event) this functionality will not work. Tried multiple readers, got sent to the help person at the desk, etc. Had to transfer them to another person in our group to get in. At least at PNC you can go back into the website and pull up a bar code, Cameron's tickets are set-up for Wallet / hold near reader only. No back-up bar codes.
Googling says it's something called an NFC. I've tried it without my phone case, ensured my phone has the latest software version, etc.
Any thoughts from the group?
Can you still use contactless payments at cash registers?

Never have used Apple Pay, or other contactless payments (if there are more than one), so I don't know.
On the 13 the NFC antenna is along the top edge. Any chance it's been dropped or the antenna has somehow come loose?

It's 2-3 years old at this point I think, so I'm sure it's been knocked around a bit. It does always live in a basic clear case. No signs of any external damage.
One troubleshooting step might be to add a credit card to the wallet and try to use Apple Pay. If it works then your nfc device is working. If not then there's your problem.
