My Dad put a stop to my quest to buy one of these as my first car in 1989:
It was brown over orange and in dry but ruff shape and I wanted it in the worst way.

I am constantly on the lookout for a dart/duster with a leaning tower of power coupled to a column shifted 3 speed. Color isn't important, heck it doesn't even have to be pretty, I just want one I can slowly rebuild while using it for commuter duty.

I've driven Model A's on a couple different occasions, and I gotta agree.
That being said, a guy across the street from where I grew up still has an all-original, running '31 sitting in primer in his garage. It's his "retirement project".
I started trying to buy this car when I was ten... Thirty-four years later, it's still stuffed in a corner, behind his once-beautiful Jeepster.
Back on topic, last summer I was out at my buddy's shop working on one of the Miatas. I needed to make a parts-run, so he tosses me the keys to his '63 Cadillac. Beautiful car that he got at an estate sale with 17K original miles.
I head out, and come to the intersection where I need to make a left turn. I turn the wheel, turn it a little more... Then turn it alot more.
After repeating this process about three more times, I finally make my 90-degree turn and head into town.
While it's not the car I would choose to drive on a daily basis, NO Miata I ever own will have the sheer "Cool-Factor" of that Caddy.

Agreed. I knew someone with a column-shift Saab 96, but he wouldn't let me drive it

I'm liking that.
Reminds me a lot of my first car, a '59 Rambler.
The whole "bathtub turned upside down" styling concept stayed with them until the early 60s.
