Kinda a dumb question, right? I figured there might be something else in them to help them flow or something else like that and wanted to make sure.

Trying to figure out cause I was going to make some wire rope guides as we discussed here.

Yeah, pretty much.

It'll be the 316L variety - for "low lead".  That's the alloy they use for pipe welding and such.

Should be totally fine for your wire guides.

L is for low carbon, not low lead.

The rods are stamped with the alloy they are, not for what you weld with them.

In a pinch I once used safety wire for filler :)

A motorcycle builder I know slices off a strip of the metal to be welded and uses it for a filler rod.

You can't see the seam once it's polished, pretty incredible work.
