From what I understand so far, the 2.3T will be the base engine and the 2.7T will be the premium engine choice for the Bronco. I believe that the manual will only be available with the 2.3T. They might break it up like the Gladiator/JL where only certain engine/trans configurations are available in the 2 door and 4 door.
We'll see...
The Ranger 2.3 shows a 7500lbs towing capacity which is similar to my Sequoia. This could be a very viable replacement if the Bronco has a similar range.
I could be interested, depends on price gouging, real world tow capacity, mpg, etc.

I lost interest. It's not really in my wheelhouse, not a big SUV/offroad guy. Also, I think Ford made a mistake in spending so many years just teasing the thing and leaking stuff that I feel like some people are burnt out on the thing already. It's kinda like the GR Supra release, it gets to a point where it's like "Quit berking around and just reveal the damn thing already, or don't say anymore about it."
this is because the uaw forced ford's hand. they weren't going to talk about it until 2017...
to all you haters, go check out bronco6g.com. they know their e63 m3. And hell yeah, i am excited!!

This is hilarious. People keep talking about how Ford have been teasing this thing for 5 years. No they haven't. This program only got kicked off about three years ago and the first sketches were made about 24-30 months ago. All the images that have been in the press over the last few years are people outside of Ford coming up with ideas of what they think it will be. Before the program was a go, I had people outside the company asking me 'So, when are Ford launching the new Bronco, 2018 or 2019?' They flat out didn't believe me when I said there was no Bronco program. This isn't a case of Ford dragging it out, it's a case of Ford listening to massive pull from dealers and the public.
Now, I was let go from Ford (Design Studio) 11 months ago, so I don't know the latest. But back then the FACTS were:
- Two and Four Door, although based on sales projections and research I'll be surprised if the two door lasts more than 2-3 years max. Buy one early if you want a two door. Really the two door is only to shut up the 'it's not a real Bronco' Morons who are pissed they aren't going to put the 66 back into production as is.
- Ranger Chassis and power train.
- Raptor was on again, off again more often than a street hookers undies, last I heard it was off.
- While the whole world and the press will see this as head to head with the Jeep, Ford and FCA see themselves as going after slightly different demographics. Wranglers are about rock crawling, Bronco's are about overlanding. This will be far far better over the road and over the desert than a Wrangler.
- Door and top removal will be light years better than Wrangler and not require tools, and can be carried with you once removed.
The Bronco Sport is based off the Focus/Escape chassis and drivetrain but will have real off road capability. Better off road than the current KL Cherokee. It's been through every name you can think of including baby Bronco, Bronco II, Maverick etc. IT will have two versions an on and off road with different front and rear fascia, wheels tires, etc to differentiate.
Before Ford let me go I was following the Bronco very very closely. I was 100% going to buy one. I know way more about trim levels, options etc. but while the company let me go I'm still a professional and will not divulge.
In my honest opinion, and I owe nothing to the company, It's going to be awesome.
you know your e63 m3... everything in this statement is true...
So, they are going to unveil the Bronco on July 9th.
Does anyone want to guess OJ's birthday?
In reply to Mr_Asa :
i am pretty sure they didn't do that on purpose. they should move it to july 4th... MURICA!!!
Someone caught the 2 door without camo
I admit that I'm pretty excited for the public release. More Wrangler competition is definitely a good thing. I'll take mine in 2 door, manual, with just enough options to be comfortable in a fun color please.
Ford moved the date again.
Didn't want it associated with OJ, likely.

Sounds like you're the moron then, OJ didnt own that Bronco, Al Cowlings did.
Signed: a 3rd gen Bronco owner that knows the reasons us "pissed off morons" think its not a Bronco unless there's a 2 door
Where did Adrian say anything about OJ in that post?
And besides, it may have been AC's Bronco, but it's irrevocably associated with OJ.
Someone caught a spyshot of the interior:

Its... OK? I'm not a big fan of ginormous touchscreens but I know they are all the rage these days. The four wheel drive selector is different. Hopefully the interior comes in more colors than "Seattle in September Grey".

Is that a resemblance with the Ford Flex I see? Please no, no, no.
Last I heard, Ford is planning on releasing the Build and Price tool "around the middle of October". Someone speculated that it would be the 12th to 15th.
I have not made a reservation yet and you must choose a dealer when making a reservation. Ford has stated that you can only change the dealer once and that there is a deadline on when you are locked in to a dealer. The reservation is $100 and is refundable.
Still no news if Ford will require an additional $500 when ordering a vehicle. Some dealers have stated that they will not require an additional deposit outside of the initial $100 but nothing official has been released from Ford, which might force dealers to require an additional deposit.
There are a few dealers that have promised no ADM and will honor XYZ Plans. A few have also promised that pricing will be $1000 under invoice. One has stated that if you make a reservation in October at their dealership, you will get $2000 off invoice price. Some dealers have no dealer fees in addition to no ADM.
I joined Disabled American Veterans (DAV) since they partner with Ford to get an X-Plan PIN. Mustang Club of America membership also gets X-Plan PINs.
Ford did change their mind and now you can get the Sasquatch package on the manual. The manual is only available on the 2.3T. I'm OK with this. I want a Base manual with the Sasquatch package. I'm not locked onto one color right now. The Lightning Blue is perfect but its only available on the Launch Editions ($$$$$$). I like the Oxford White and Antimatter Blue.

From what I've seen - and I'm not sure how reliable the source was, because I can't remember where I read it - the Bronco is supposed to have a 3500lbs tow rating. I was also hoping for tow rating similar to the Ranger as my wife wants a new Bronco once they worked out the kinks and a 7500lbs tow rating would've negated the need for a separate tow vehicle.
Edit: D'oh, the source I couldn't remember was the official Ford specs page on their website. At least the Big Bend in two and four door is listed as 3500lbs tow capacity.
IS 3,500 really the max tow rating? If so that's a deal killer. The only way I'll give up my V60 Wagon is for a higher tow rating than it's 3,300lb's (3,900lb's for the identical car in Europe). 200lb's isn't worth the sacrifice.
In reply to Adrian_Thompson (Forum Supporter) :
Yes, for all trims, engines and 2 or 4 door:
It is kinda low but the tow rating on my 2012 Wrangler 2 door was only 2000lbs. The 4 door Wranglers had a max tow of 3500lbs.
Yep. That seems like a HUGE screw up by Ford to not design more tow capacity. Even just a bump to 5,000 lbs would be enough.
Otherwise, we'd likely be looking at buying my girlfriend the base model (with auto) of the "real" Bronco, not the Bronco sport.

Yup! Agreed!
My Trail Team FJ Cruiser, which a Bronco would replace, is 4700lbs
I was disappointed by the towing capacity too, but it meets or exceeds the Wrangler's towing capacity of 2000 lb for the 2 door, 3500lb for the 4 door so I don't think it will hurt sales much. The new Land Rover Defender has roughly the same wheelbase as the Bronco and can tow 7000+ lb, but its also 6 inches wider and a lot more expensive.
Maybe Ford will grow the Bronco lineup with a larger model that sacrifices some off road capability for more towing capacity.
I agree I would have liked more towing capacity, but I guess that's not the real point of the vehicle. Heavy towing and off road chops are near impossible to get in the same vehicle. Off road ability is the obvious choice for this model, and I doubt it will hurt sales at all. I'm probably just widhing I could have my cake and eat it too.
I'd still rock one; but, a Ridgeline has a slightly higher towing capacity and I can use the tailgate cooler to keep my beer cold
