Or you could just do what many states already do and require vehicles registered for the street to pass yearly emissions tests. This isn't really adding more laws, it's enforcing existing laws.
Vehicle height and tire width don't impact other people's health. Custom vans didn't impact the health of society. Neither did air shocks, minitrucks, or stupid body kits and fart cans on ricers. Rolling coal does. Bro trucks are the styling trend, rolling coal is a public health and safety issue.

Heres the thing, i think the loud smoky diesels are super douchey and annoying also, but if you push for laws you will get laws.
That's why I keep saying they are already illegal in a number of ways. New laws are not needed.

Maybe the cop figured having a small hootus was punishment enough?
That made me laugh. I have a sticker that reads "Owner Has A Giant Penis" mounted to some magnetic vinyl so I can deploy it strategically on my Miata.
I am sure there are plenty of whackos that make the same comments about my hootus when I'm DD'ing the wife's crewcab. Or my loud C10. Or any other number of things. If I gave a flying berkeley about what other people thought about me, or my hootus, I might be concerned. Luckily I don't.
With that said, I try to not be a douche nozzle when driving on the street. I might turn every auto-x into a drift event right now, but I'll blame the low weight on the rear tires, the locker and the newfound power for that. On the street, I short shift, give room, and try and be courteous, but that doesn't stop some people from getting their feelings hurt.
EDIT: I am also the founding member and president of the Teeny Weeny Club for Secure Adult Males.
The first thing that came to mind when I saw the thread title was a mental picture of blowing a head gasket and immediately being pulled over and ticketed for "rolling coal". No new laws, please. It's already been noted that the modifications to produce smoke are usually illegal already.
My number one rule when driving is I'm not in a hurry, even if I'm already late. If I spot a clown on the road I take a different route. I'll pull over and sit on the shoulder for a minute if that's what it takes to put some space between us. Let the law enforcement do their job, and if they aren't then new laws won't change anything.

Agreed. We had a new law take effect last year about left lane drivers. Does it get enforced? Rarely. Does anyone pay attention to it (besides myself)? Not really. Another case of the laws on the books not getting enforced because it's not a money maker for the local municipalities.
