The difference today is that it's too easy to see examples of a lack of common sense on the internet. Millions of us see the same Youtube video and assume there are millions of idiots rather than millions of viewers.

Button hook as in the turn while pulling a trailer (vs. Jug handle), or button hook the handy tool for fastening buttons on shirts/shoes etc.?
When i hear about a button hook all I think about is the talking goat getting hit with a football.

We’re all in the asylum together. Might as well enjoy the ride.

Have you just sat down anywhere public and people watched for an hour or so lately? The only reason the majority of people are still alive is because breathing is an automatic function.
So I hope you can all accept the fact that other people look at you with the same scorn as you look to them....
BTW, IMHO, the term "common sense" is WAY too used, as in many cases, it's actually wrong. People like to make you think in their manner by calling something "common sense" when all they are doing is manipulating the way you think so that you feel that you should agree with them. Whenever I hear the words "common sense solutions", I immediately think that the person saying it has a huge agenda and is likely very wrong. Otherwise, they would not need to use those words.

"Heeyyy, you button hooked me. I didn't know you were gonna button hook me!"

You know the thing about chaos? It's fair.
Dark Night is streaming on Netflix now.

Instead of suing McDonald's for making coffee hot enough to burn skin, maybe just accept the fact that hot coffee is hot and that people shouldn't spill it on themselves.
I understand your point, but that example is not a good one:

(it's more a case of a very arrogant corporation, than a whiny old lady)
You can still easily get first or second degree burns from Tim Horton's hot chocolate. McDonald's shouldn't have told her to go piss up a flagpole but anything made with quickly boiled water should be treated like a live grenade until it cools down a bit.
