The worst James Bond ever? And how much did AMC pay for the product placement? Bangkok policemen driving Matadors? Seriously?

Someone enlighten me to the allure. Perhaps I am just missing something. I really don't care much for Bond flicks at all except the very first one and the recent re-make of Casino Royale (which I believe to be the best Bond flick ever because it was not like a Bond flick at all).
I can't say much for what I would expect a Bangkok Police cruiser to be, but in The States at the time (mid 70s), Matador Police cars were VERY common. They were also on TV alot too--think Adam12 for example. In 'real life', the LAPD used Matadors too--which might explain some of the propensity to seeing them on the big and small screen.
I will happily sit through any Sean Connery Bond movie. I very much enjoyed them as a kid, and I still like them. The entire "action flick" genre owes a great deal to the Bond franchise.

Absolutely common in the US (and Canada) -- but Thailand? And an AMC dealer to boot? Of course, the entire genre requires the willing suspension of disbelief so I suppose it is not too out of line.
When I was young, I was only allowed to stay up past my bedtime to watch James Bond Movies with my Dad. I will always have a fond place in my heart for them.

Agreed. My personal pecking order is Connery>Moore>Brosnan...then every one else...well Lazenby comes last.
Hated Roger Moore. New guy/attitude is best, and I may get a beating for this, but I liked Timothy Dalton.
The worst Bond ever was that one where the villain was that guy who had the bullet in his brain which somehow made him invincible and impervious to pain. Where they tried to blow up the oil pipeline with a nuke. "Christmas Jones" was the Bond girl. I don't even remember the name right now. I generally liked the Pierce Brosnan films up 'til that point, but that one was a steaming pile of nasty goat poo.
I liked Timothy Dalton, and Roger Moore was okay. He got to drive the submarine Esprit after all. I don't remember George Lazernby at all.
In my opinion they never should have tried to keep the franchise contemporary rafter the cold war ended. Wouldn't it be awesome if they were still set in the '60s (or even the '70s~'80s?) Cold, calculating Soviet agents make great villains.
Connery > Moore > Craig > Dalton > Lazenby > Brosnan
As much as Brosnan seemed like the perfect Bond candidate his PC portrayal was just the worst and he ended up being a terrible Bond. Daniel Craig has done great things with the role and really probably moves ahead of Moore on that little chart but for the fact that I've grown up with Connery and Moore as Bond so I need a little more time to admit it.

I'll watch any of the Connery ones except for Never Say Never Again.

The World is not Enough. I <3 Sophie Marceau, though.
There's a reason that a cousin of mine would prefer the spelling 'Piss Brosnan' . I do prefer Timothy Dalton, but I don't think the two with him were a big success commercially. Probably because they - especially the second one - were uncommonly dark for a Bond movie.
I kinda like Daniel Craig, though. But not enough to not wait until I can rent the DVD.
Not a big Bond fan (although my wife is).
I'd say Moore, Brosnan (way better than I thought he'd be) and Connery. The rest were so bad IMO, to be entirely forgettable
The wife puts Connery as #1
The absolute worst Bond is the neanderthal new guy. So far from the Bond of the books or the Bond of previous movies.
Bond sucked once Timothy Dalton got involved.
Best one is "You only live twice" because of the only two ragtop Toyota 2000GT's ever made.
Shawn
How about the ORIGINAL Bond: Barry Nelson.
I like the new Bond movies best. The "Casino Royale" with David Niven as the real James Bond and Peter Sellers and Woody Allen as later "Bonds" was a lot of fun. And it had the best Bond car ever. Like this:
Bond's project car in the novels was a Blower Bently, and someone involved with that movie at least read one of the novels.

I agree. The new one is a good action movie in its own right, but Bond films are supposed to be a bit cheesy, a bit tongue-in-cheek.
Moore, then Connery for me. Moore is also good in 'The Saint', pretty much playing the same character.

Sophie Marceau is hot, but Christmas Jones was played by Denise Richards.
I have never been a fan of Bond movies. I'll watch them on occasion if they turn up on TV, but I'm solidly eh. Even the new ones just don't interest me all that much.
