To make a short story, long......

I bought a DVD-R, or DVD recorder for those of you who have no idea what I am talking about.. It is essentially a VCR except it burns to a DVD disk, instead of recording to a VHS tape.

The model is a "Pioneer 220-s dvd recorder". I wanted to convert all of my old VHS recordings of racing, and have them on a Disk so I could copy to a hard drive.. And eventually upload.

Unfortunately; I bought it without a remote... The only way I can finalize the disks, is with a remote. I can get to the menu that allows me to finalize the disk with the buttons on the unit, but there is no way to actually finalize it... Without a remote control.....

My question is this Does anyone have the remote code for the "Pioneer 220-s dvd recorder". I can't find it anywhere, I have looked for days. I have even called the manufacturer and had no luck (mostly because they didn't understand English that well).

If nobody does, is there some sort of master list of remote codes??

Or, is there some other way of finalizing disks, or extracting information from un-finalized disks via, computer??

could probably just buy a USB video converter card and just skip the dvd part and put the VHS straight to the computer for that much money...

Buy a universal remote, run through the list of Pioneer codes until one works.

i've noticed in the past that most things have features that can only be operated with the oem remote- so even if you find the magical code, you might not be able to do the thing that you want with the remote...

but i did have one magical remote that controlled every function on every device i had programmed into it- it was made by these guys and came with the dvr cable box i had at my last place... they made me give it back with the box when i moved... i was sad...

it was this remote here:

awesome remote..

I have a Sony TV and couldn't get a Sony universal remote to work with it. I contacted Sony and they said that that particular TV was not supported by universal remotes. I had to buy an original remote for it. I found a brand new one on eBay for just a few bucks.
